Anyone who is focused on math, science, and engineering shoudl attend this school.

The ideal attendee for Cal Poly is someone who is both outgoing and adventurous, but still has a large drive for success. Many schools offer a great education, but what really matters is where someone sees themself. A student coming into Cal Poly should be willing to try new things right from the start, even if it just making new friends. Also, Cal Poly's location offers the ability to explore surrounding beaches, campgrounds, and hiking trails. That being said, attendees of Cal Poly are still some of the smartest and hardest working students in the country.

Someone who is very motivated and goal oriented. someone who won't get destracted easily or is a procrastinator. Someone who is definietly a hands on learner, but also knows how to study well when stuck in a lecture only class setting.

I believe there is a certain personality that radiates from the students here. We tend to be physically active and outwardly friendly. When others seem to be struggling, the common person here would stop to help. The academic atmosphere has never felt competitive to me. Each person is on their own path and takes it upon themselves to determine the pace and what they want to take from their education. Be prepared for group projects and hands-on laboratory experiences. Older students will pass along their experiences and you will eventually do the same for the fresh faces.

As an engineering major, it is safe to say that the type of person who should attend the school is one willing to spend the necessary time studying the course material. Additionally, the student should have a desire to learn, in depth, about all topics, including the general education courses that seem mindless at times. Overall, as long as the person is full of courage and wants to achieve the best possible result, then Cal Poly San Luis Obispo is the right university for them.

Someone who is friendly, and academically focused.

Cal Poly has a learn by doing approach to academics. Hands on learners are very well suited to studying at Cal Poly, because they will have the opportunity to practically try what they are learning in the classroom. Cal Poly is perfect for students that want to gain practical experience as well as theoretical knowledge. It is an open, accepting environment, and is full of opporttuny for students looking to get more involved. Cal Poly students encourage community and are proud that they are members of an amazing school.

Any kind of person could attend Cal Poly because of the large variety of clubs, activites, and jobs on campus that match each personility type.

A student who is hard working and is able to manage time very effectively. The quarters go by very fast so you have to be focused and can't expect to get good grades without putting in the effort. The students that attend Cal Poly are motivated and mature and know what they want to do after college.

The kind of person found in the classrooms at Cal Poly is enthusiastic, goal oriented, and most likely described as an over-achiever. This person loves to learn, and loves to do it well. A Cal Poly student knows that making connections with professors and fellow classmates can only better one's disposition, especially when looking for an internship or career. Plus, this student is not afraid to get their hands dirty because they love to learn by doing; and above all, they are not afraid to fail because they know that failure only drives them towards success.

Someone who enjoys learning by doing and is likes to be involved with their community.

Generally, students that did pretty well in High School and know what they want their major to be. Your major must be declared before acceptance, so you need a pretty good idea of what you want to do in life.

Someone who is serious about school and not just coming for the lifestyle, is sure what they want to study (Cal Poly requires declaring a major when you apply), and can keep up with the quarter system.

Anyone really. Probably someone who is into a small, laid back community. Fraternities and sororities tend to be really big here. So that's good if you're into that. But for those who aren't, like me, it kind of sucks sometimes because it dominates the party scene. This place is also for those who like going to the beach and enjoy sunny weather. I'm more of a city type of person, but this place is cool for now.

A person who is ready to have fun learning by doing, and also having fun on the weekends in a small college town. (play hard, work hard!)

The person should be open-minded and focused. There are many things to distract a person so it's vital that a person can stay on the right track and not give up. This person needs to think outside the box and have creative ideas when it comes to class work and people.

Someone wanting hands on experience

The average person at Cal Poly is a white Republican Christian who wears flip flops. Granted, that's not what everyone in San Luis Obispo looks like, but I would say the people who attend Poly are generally pretty laid back, enjoy having fun, but also know when to be serious. School can be challenging, but there's still room to enjoy college. It's a fairly large school in a small community, so everyone knows everyone through someone.

I think that anybody wanting a fun, academically rigorous, education would enjoy Cal Poly.
