My college experience so far has been a great experience and I would recommend college to anyone because in the beginning it may not seem worth it but in the end it will all pay off. College is no easy place and it is a learning experience everyday but the many oppertunities, you gain from college are worth the adventure. College has offered me an oppertunity to earn my degree in the career field of my choice. It has also taught me to be more responsible when it comes to school because its not like high school to where you have 6 months to complete 6 classes; this is a fast pace environment and takes alot of effort. The classroom enviroment in college is amazing, you meet new people everyday and they can help you along they way in your college days and they can help you with your future.

I have been accepted to the licensed vocational nursing program at Panola College, this means alot to me because I will be the first person in my family to graduate college. College has taught me responsibility, and that with hard work and determination you can achieve anything you put your mind to.

The things that I have gotten out of my college expereince were be a goal getter, look out for number one, be positive, and always look for ways to better yourself. First of all I learned that a person needs to be a goal getter in order to attend and successfully graduate. Meaning, if I wanted something as small as a front seat or as big as a "A" in the class, I had to work for it which made me appreciate my success all the more. This connects with looking out for number one which is me because no one was concerned for my needs, wants, or pressing issues which made me my own advocate. Even though I had to always look out for my goals and achievements, I had to be positive. For instance, if I got an unwanted grade I had work harder next time and not get down. All in all I learned to always better myself which helped me reach limits I never thought were possible. Therefore, my college experience was challenging but worthwhille because of the opportuntity to grow up and be my own person.

Out of my college experience so far I have gotten to know who I am as a person. In highschool I was not always the start of the class. A lot of the time I stayed quiet and got all my work done. However, once I started college it change how I look at other people around me. I am more outgoing and are willing to stand out in the crowed, something that I was never able to do before. I have made life long friends that I hope will stay by my side forever, I know I will be by theirs. I have learned what I want to do with my life and how I want to keep my life running in the future, around me and those close.

Attending community college at Mt. Hood Community College has been an amazing experience, preparing me for my tansfer to Western Oregon University with an Associace of Arts so that I can pursue a degree in Information Systems. Last Spring I was selected to be the Public Relations officer for the MHCC chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International honor society, which has been an amazing and valuable experience, and has allowed me be involved with both my college and community. Being in such a position has given me a great amount of motivation to do more both in my scholarly and and leadership activities, as last year I wasn not involved in anything, and really only went to school. It is a great feeling to me to be able to be a part of something and make a difference, and I have really enjoyed my time at Mt. Hood Community College and with Phi Theta Kappa.

My experience at the community college I am currently attending has really helped with the expected transition to a university. It has given my great experience it the advanced courses that come with college, adequately giving me the needed study skills. Not to mention the reduced costs of attendence really helps out because I am paying for school with no parental assistance.

I would not change my college experience for anything in the world. Through this experience I have found the man I intend to marry, many life-long friends, met wonderful teachers, discovered my passion in life, and when I graduate and start my career, I will be able to help out my family financially. I don't think I could have done as well at a different school. CSU San Bernardino just seemed to be the perfect fit for me and I am very glad I had this opportunity, an opportunity my mother and my siblings were not able to have.
