Academics around College of Charleston is important. Most professors do try to get to know their students and genuinely care about helping a student learn. Students are very competitive and the library is almost always full of students struggling and excelling in their classes.

Academics at COFC are definitely something to brag about. All of my professors know my name and class participation is a big part of my classes. My favorite class has been anatomy with Prof. Pringle. My least favorite was world history with Brana-Shute. Students are definitely competitive and grades are important. A cofc education will take you far in life.

All of my professors know me by name, and the small class sizes make learning much easier and more personal. Because of the small class sizes, class participation is always necessary and very common.

The professors at CofC are top-notch. I went to a very good public school, and the teachers here rival those. Every one of my teachers knows my name and uses it both in class and when they see me on the street. They are incredibly helpful and really want us to succeede. For example, I am not a math person, and my Calculus teacher stayed up with a few of us till 1:00 am helping us before the exam.

Some professors are amazing, some are awful, and some in between. I think we have great professors, but not a ton of them. When class participation matters, there is a lot of it. Some professors have had a dinner outside of class, but as I said before not many. It would be nice if all professors were open with their students. It makes class easier and more fun when you know your professor better.

Most our professors know our names. They care about our education as much as we do. The education at CofC is geared towards getting a job and getting a all-around great liberal arts education.

Classes are relatively small, promoting a very intimate learning environment for teachers and students. Professors know their students by name and are always willing to meet with students after class. I have actually had a professor invite me to her house for dinner! Many classes are discussion style, which just means that about 10 students sit in a circle and discuss the learning material for that day rather than just sitting through a lecture. This class style encourages healthy debates and challenges students to think for themselves.

Most professors do know your names. Least favorite class - Marketing 302 with Blose. Favorite class - History 102 with Boucher. My friends and I are very competitive and have intellectual conversations outside of class but I can't speak for the rest of the school. I've never spent time with professors outside of class for non-school purposes. Academic requirements are pretty general. It is geared for more towards learning than it is getting a job.

My professors have been great. Each of them knows my name and a bit about me. Some teachers you do have to make more of an effort to know but it is worth it. My favorite class has been History 103 & 104. I've had the same professor twice and he's wonderful. My least favorite class has been Accounting. It's so hard and the teacher isn't that helpful! Class participation is pretty common-most teachers require sometime of oral presentation either solo or in a group. My major is Arts Management and my minor is in Theatre. Both departments are extremely close and I've developed a lot of great relationships.
