College of Charleston Top Questions

I guess a stereotype I have heard about C of C is the girl to guy ratio, which is about 3 to 1. Another stereotype that I have heard about C of C students is that they are mostly hippies.

Very preppy and rich, mostly white and mostly female. A lot of pot use and other drugs. Very intelligent and hard working.

Students are preppy: Girls wear Lilly Pulitizer, boys pop their collars. It is a huge party school. Everyone is from the south.

That the College of Charleston supplies the girls, and the Citadel supplies the boys. Not so.

Most of the students all are young, and rich and do not have a passion for school because their parents pay for everything so they just dont care. By them not caring it sometimes makes the teachers not care. Good luck meeting people if your not nineteen and rich you will not have friends.

A lot of people think that CofC is nothing but a party school with frat boys and bottle-blonde girls. They also think that CofC's academic reputation is lacking.

Party-goers, weed-smokers, same stereotypes associated with liberal arts students

CofC is a liberal arts school- so there are a lot of liberals. There is definitely a 'look' to many CofC guys (although they are few and far between- visors, flip flops, khaki shorts, collared shirts, etc., but it was nothing like when I went to Clemson and thats all I saw).

Everyone is really preppy and it is a party school.

What I hear from some people that don't go here is that there are a lot of good looking girls and that many people are preppy.

It seems to me like most of the students there are either really artsy emo kids or rich sorority girls.

The good ol' boys

for the boys: Surfer type, hippie, frat boy to the extreme. for the girls: preppy, hippie, chases citadel boys.

Some believe that CofC is not a challenging college compared to other schools.
