Make sure to look for the following things when looking at schools: neighborhood (what is near the school as well as the reputation of the area), tuition both for out of state and in state, scholarships and financial aide avaible, programs they offer and what type of degrees. Apply for every scholarship even if you think you wont get it. You would be surprised. Be involved, try clubs and organizations, they help with friends and give you connections you can use later in life. Pick a school that fits you. I didnt want to go to a big university, I get easily distracted and knew that I might get lost in a crowd of students when I needed help. Smaller classrooms mean more personal time. If the professor knows you and knows your trying they might be more helpful then one that cant remember your name. Dont just follow your friends, dont be afraid to leave them behind sometimes because they might drag you down. Keep them close but dont be afraid to make some new ones. Check your schools surroundings. Make sure it looks safe for you and your belongings(car, etc). Also sometimes a school out in the middle of no-where might seem okay, but make sure you can handle it. If you like to do certain things, it might be nice to see if those are near so you can have a comfort zone.

Choose a major that is going to make you happy when deciding where you want to go to college. Make sure the college you choose has classes that will accomodate what you want to do with your career. Visit the school first and then choose. Meet people who have been there and see what they think about the college. It is all about personal opinions on things.
