DO NOT come to Conn if you want to study abroad. They advertise it as a strength, but fewer and fewer people are being "allowed" to go.
Jess
Don't get nervous about asking people to hang out/chat/etc. It's a strange transition to college, and sometimes it can take a while until you've found your right group of friends.

Conn is an awesome place to go. The weather can get a little depressing in the winter, but so far I've had a pretty sweet time here. If you want to put in lots of study time and work hard, you'll do great academic-wise and have fun while doing so. If you'd rather slack off and get mediocre grades, you are still able to enjoy yourself. Conn is what you make of it.

you can have a great time and do as you please, you may have less friends if you choose not to drink.

Mail should be open on Saturdays, health services should have better hours, and there should be more choices for food after dinner closes instead of just Oasis.

A lot of students (and their parents!) worry about the co-ed bathrooms. Honestly, though, they are not a big deal at all. Yes, you will learn some things about the opposite sex that you probably did not want to know, and things go on in the showers that make shower shoes even more of a necessity, but most of the time, after the first couple days, it doesn't even phase you to see a guy (or girl) in the bathroom (although I can say that when I've been really tired and run into a guy I did a double take and wondered if I was in the right bathroom). If you really can't stand the idea of hearing a guy/girl pee, we do have single sex floors that you can apply to. My only advice? Don't date someone on your floor, because then running into them in the bathroom after you break up is awkward!

Conn Coll is a great place and a great balance for me. I have really grown as a person here on many levels.

The best thing to do to get a feel for Connecticut College is to come visit and take a tour of campus. Spend some time people-watching and see how being on campus makes you feel. That's what sold me.
Kate
Conn is a GREAT school. All NESCAC schools are great schools and you will get a great liberal arts education. These are the "little ivy" schools people are talking about!
Jeff
It's alright but the academics here are overlooked. Too much focus on other extracurricular. And its a lot of money
Peter
Connecticut College is very adept at looking professional and not backing it up. Academics here are sometimes great and sometimes terrible. The housing lottery system is somewhat corrupt and a pain in the butt to deal with. SGA runs well and there is strong competitive involvement in anything bureaucratic at the school. New London is a terrible town with very little opportunity. However, the student body is smart and nicely sized. Everyone gets single rooms most of the time but access to kitchens is limited. The drinking culture is surprisingly large given no greek life but this is birthed out of the lack of other activities.
The good things are:
There is a great opportunity for anyone interested in Rock music via MobRock and most of the instrumental teachers are very strong. The CELS program can be helpful junior year and while graduating and CELS attracts many students. It has a beautiful campus and arboretum and it is small enough that student teacher relationships can be very strong.
The Bad things are:
Overall, in my opinion, Connecticut College is largely overpriced, the dining halls are diminishing in quality year after year, and too much money is spent on worthless things. Some professors should have been fired years ago and the school needs to allocate more money into departments that struggle financially. The school recently spent 8 million dollars on improvements like sidewalks and other worthless renovations that should have been spent on quality of life.

I love the dance department here. If anyone is considering getting a BA in dance, they should get it here. We have the best professors and the best studio spaces.
Hannah
Cannot say enough how incredible the dance department is!
Jess
The dance department is amazing!
Becca
The dance department is amazing! Our professors are well educated and versed in the modern dance world and this knowledge oozes onto the students. We also get the opportunity to work with various esteemed guest artists who are big names in the dance world and who are also eager to keep in touch after their time at Conn.
Lindsey
the dance department is awesome! great classes both for people who have danced all their lives and for people who have never danced before
Kate
the dance department is amazing.
William
I think I said pretty much everything I have to say/
Amy
I love the dance department! The faculty is so kind and always there for you whether you need to talk about dance or not.
Lauren
I really like Conn, especially the Dance Department!
