My experiences here at Davidson College have been more amazing than I could have ever expected. There is so much pride and a sense of community that I have not heard any of my other friends talk about. We come together as friends. This is not an atmosphere of cut-throat competition like at other rigorous schools. We have a ton of work, but that drives us to do better and see it as a challenge rather than a pest. Davidson is in every sense of the phrase a "college town." Local town members can be seen strolling on campus. Stores have Davidson flags and signs hanging in the windows. The people truly care about us and come to our shows and events. There is something that seems to draw people to Davidson. There is an air of welcomeness. Everyone you meet has an interesting story, something that makes them truly unique. Yet there is something that links us all together. Perhaps it is our unquenchable drives. Our drives to succeed, our thirst for knowledge, our desire to help. I absolutely love those "Davidson moments." Moments like, for example, when I am working with some friends at three in the morning and we spontaneously get into a religious debate that lasts until five in the morning. Moments when you realize that you are in the presence of truly gifted minds. Moments when you realize that there is so much left in the world to experience. Davidson had truly opened my eyes to the wonders of the world and the importance of education. As a freshman I have already made friends who I feel completely close to and who I want to remain friends with for the rest of my life. People here are genuine. The teaching staff truly want you to succeed and help out in every way possible. They treat us like equals and actually listen to us. And our professors are brilliant, opening up new doors every day. It bothers me that most people I have spoken with do not know about Davidson. I feel we deserve so much more recognition. I am glad we are finally getting some recognition for our basketball team. Those boys work so hard and are not only talented but extremely bright. I just wish people would look at Davidson more for its rigorous programs than the fact that they do our laundry.

When I told people that i was going to davidson i really did not get much of a reaction at all. coming from Miami, schools with bigger names or student populations were more popular to go to and a liberal arts college in the little town of Davidson, NC just was/is not known. all they would assume about Davidson are the stereotypes that are generally applied to every southern school: that we are pedominantly white and protestant.

The small student community is the best part about Davidson. Everyone is nice to each other and to outsiders. People are impressed when I say I go to Davidson. The basketball team is amazing and a big deal on campus - the cool thing is I see the players everyday around campus. The trustees were extremely generous to pay for us to go to Detroit. Professors are really nice and truly want to get to know you. The honor code is a huge part of Davidson and makes the campus extremely trusting and open

Small campus, small classes, close professor-student relationships, dean-student relationships. You will be offered the best possible education here (academically, socially, and service). Safe. Fun. Lot's of school pride. Fraternities and eating houses.
Amazing basketball team!!! GO WILDCATS!!!!!

The school is small, but that also means that there is a real community. You know everyone's face, and that makes you feel at home and also makes it quite safe. No one ever locks their doors, and parties are very welcoming. You will always know someone wherever you go. The town is tiny, but has a coffee shop that everyone studies at, but the town and the college have a fantastic relationship.

I will always be proud to tell people I went to Davidson, even when all this attention from basketball is over and people go back to being unfamiliar with my school. It's a wonderful community, the honor code is taken very seriously and the professors really care about you. My personal story of why I came to Davidson is also pretty interesting: When I was making my decision, a family friend traveled back to Davidson for his class reuinion. Having graduated with the former president of the college, this man told President Vaught about me and my college dilemma. A few days later, President Vaught called me at home! And when I wasn't there, he called again! He asked if I had any questions and if there was any way he could help me make my decision. I knew then and there that Davidson was the place for me if even the college president was willing to go out of his way for one single student.

Small school but you still don't get to know everyone.
Before the NCAA tournament this year no one knew about Davidson and how hard it is but now people do recognize it.
I spend most of my time in the dorms.
Cute town and definitely not in the middle of nowhere.
Administration is generally helpful.
Lots of school pride surrounding basketball, not as much for other things.

Davidson has seen the very best in me and probably some of the worst of me. It takes a special place to evoke those kinds of experiences. The size is good for me, I like recognizing people. When I mention that I go to Davidson, people often reply, "Oh you must be smart," or "I was rooting for yall in the tournament." People are smart here, but in an exciting, engaging, pure of heart way. Not that we're a bunch of idealists. We're a collection of intelligent young people who really care about bringing out the best. I haven't seen more of my peers so committed to raising the bar. Davidson's administration? They care about us.

If you're a prospective or any outsider, you can't understand until you've become part of the Davidson community. We are just a big happy family. Everyone loves this school so much. Classes may be hard, but people rarely complain. The weather is so good, the professors are so nice, many of the dorms are like hotels... The only bad thing I can say about Davidson is that they don't have enough strawberry ice cream in the cafeteria.

I like the school size but some of my friends said it was too small for them. I come from a big high school, so they felt it was hs all over again. I love the town ... it's small but quaint.
