Make sure to visit the college campus. Talk to students on campus and find out what it is really like. How friendly are the professors? how competitive are the students? do TAs teach most of the classes or do professors? Is extra help available if you need it through tutoring centers? what are the grading policys like? Sit in on a class that you would have to take for what you are interested in to see if you like the teaching styles.

I believe that there are a couple of secrets to succeeding in college . One of these secrets is what you put in to your University is what you will get out of it. I know many students come to college and expect to have automatic friends, to feel apart of the campus or to overall just fell welcomed by the school. My Freshman year, I learned that if I wanted to have friends, I needed to be willing to open up to people and get involved on campus. I learned that to feel apart of the campus, I needed to give to the campus. In order to do this I began volunteering for events on campus and looking for opportunities to learn more about my school and serve it. The second secret I learned is to show up. Showing up to class, opportunities offered by the campus, football games, tutoring sessions and more. Showing up to all the things that the campus and the community offers. I learned that doing these things helped me to have a wonderful Freshman year and have friends that will last a life time and an unforgettable college experience.

Look at a lot of schools and really walk around campus and get to know teachers and others on campus. Make sure you visit the school plenty of times to make sure you really like it. Possibly even sit in on a class just to get the feel for it.

Live in a dorm for atleast a year! You will find so many friends there!

Make sure they dont just research about the acdemics and sports but dont research about the finanicial aid cause ours is the worst.

Find something within in a three hour drive home. Find a school that has your major and is known for offering great programs in that major. Make sure the school is affordable. Finacial aid dosent always come through. Dont choose a school because your best friend is going there. Weight all your options. There is alot more to school than academics. Theres academics, the social life, extra curricular, dorm life, etc.

Finding the right college is a life experience itself. Take advantage of every opportunity you are given. This includes the opportunity to attend a university and everything it has to offer. While at college you can never have too many friends. You can never study too hard. You can never have too much fun, however sometimes you can stay out too late. Thank your parents for helping you to get to where you are today, they deserve that pat on the back and will appriciate a call from you more often than less. College is the most important transition into adulthood. You will only get out of class what you put into it. Don't fool yourself, YOU DO HAVE TO GO TO CLASS. Have a blast and enjoy yourself. When stressing out just remember that no matter how bad you have it, someone has it worse. Do all that you are capable of and college will be the best years of your life!
