Get to know other students on campus, don't be afraid to ask questions. Check out the student union building, cafeteria, library, gym, and extracurricular activities on campus.

As for finding the right college:
Relax and breathe.
If you or your child already have a major in mind, research which schools offer the best program for that area, then speak in depth with department chairs about what their schools have to offer. If you or your child have not narrowed down a specific major, opt for a school with a wide array of majors to explore. Visit the campus and pay attention to the surrounding area! You're going to be living in it for quite a while! Consider out of state schools. Although the tuition may be high, once granted residency, it may be cheaper in the long run than your in-state schools!
As for making the most of the college experience:
Embrace diversity and enter the world with an open mind. Thrust yourself out of your comfort zone. Set your priorities early and stick to them. Don't be swayed by peer pressure. Choose friends that promote a healthy lifestyle, have goals, and encourage you to reach yours. View change as an opportunity to grow. Ask questions, smile, and always give 110{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}.
Enjoy it while it lasts and don't forget to call home.

The the advice I will give students about finding the right college is find a college that not only have you major but many other resources. Many students make mistakes going to colleges just because they have thier desire major. College is far more than that. Going to one of the best colleges does not guranteed you everything you need. While choosing the college best for you think about availiabity of resources, social life, housing, meals, services the college provide for you, cost, intended major or minor, and get connected programs such as organizations, diverty summits, community involvement. Once you find the right college making the most out of the college is important. Get involved in in serveral organizations, social events, and on-campus programs. College is far more than eduacation to me, its a period of adult hood, responsibities, and new beginning. I came to college not knowing no one and to far from home to go visit very weekend, now I feel like I know the whole world and I could not feel better than what I am feeling now. Interact and invole yourself in the communities and around campus, there's no right way or wrong way.

Your first day there, when you're moving in be patient, and don't decorate until all of your family leaves. After they leave let your boxes explode and fully decorate the room and unpack your stuff, make it a home away from home. Also always make sure you understand the rules so you don't get off to a bad start with the administrators, once you know the rules, they won't bother you as much as they possibly might have. Lastly, get a calender, different colored pens too if you want, but get a calender to write down your classes and assignments on.
As for finding the right college, well I got lucky, it's nice to have someone who actually went there talk to you, particulary if they know you really well to begin with, that helps ALOT. Keep an open mind but have some definite factors that help you rule them out. Also as confident as you may be about money, apply for scholarships, please, there are usually surprise supplies that add up quickly.
Good luck.

Finding the right college is a tough decision. Visit many campuses to find which one you feel most comfortable with. Take a look at the surrounding area to find out its safety, community activities, job opportunities, and nightlife. Go into college with an open mind because there is so much to learn and to see. It is a wonderful experience to meet new people from different backgrounds and with different goals in life. It is not only a taste of freedom, but a new sense of responsibility and commitment. Breathe it in and embrace the experience.
