Someone who is easily distracted by the fast lifestyle of Miami would have trouble staying focused at Florida International University. I am originally from Seattle, WA and the cultural differences from my hometown and where I currently live and attend school were dramatic, so location away from home would be something to think of as well.

The kind of person who shouldn't attend this school is someone who is very anti-social and doesn't want to be bothered by students or clubs. There are countless kinds of people to become friends with and help make your college expierence memorable.

I believe all persons should be given a chance to attend college and if they find out that it is not for them, then they can atted a trade school or jump into the work force. I do not believe that there is a particular person that shound not be allowed to attend this school. I feel that every should be given an opportunity.

Anyone who is not willing to work hard or is not fond of a diverse community should not attend FIU. FIU has great programs that entail many projects, activities and events. If you are looking for an easy ride, FIU is not for you.
Sheldon
I believe this school is for all types of people. I was amazed to see the wide array of race, culture, languages and interests, and from what I have seen so far, the school seems to bend over backwards to provide opportunities for minorities to feel welcome and at home and to be able to locate programs and facilities to make the transition a smooth one!
Oscar
Someone very religious, conservative or intolerant should not attend this school.
Tikeira
A person that wants to be at a small university with extra small student to professor ratios should not attend this school. Also people that are closed minded and does not like diversity should not attend this school.
Olga
FIU is open and accepting to everyone.
emily
If your looking for a real college experiance I would not attend FIU. Although it is a great school, it is also a commuter school, not many students live on or around campus. FIU lacks the feeling of school spirt and the soundings of a undergrad community.
Patrick
If you're very pretentious, I suppose. It's pretty laid back.
Ibelise
Nobody, everybody should have the same opportunity to attend FIU. Now, if you're a pessimistic ungrateful person, you probably won't be having a good time already. I feel pessimistic myself sometimes, but the moment I remember where I go to school, and how great it is to be part of such a great place I put all the bad things behind. Anybody who's told not to go, should rebel and go. You do what's best for you and your happiness, don't ever let anybody tell you otherwise!
Jonathan
Students who want to attend an already established university should reconsider FIU because the school is young and still developing and making a name for itself.
Jasmyn
Everyone should go to FIU; it's a great place to get outside of your comfort zone, learn about new cultures and grow your world view. It's a very accepting university over all; very "Come one, come all" vibe that is welcoming and friendly.
Yesenia
I think everyone should attend this school.
Melissa
Any kind of person can attend FIU. Being that it is in Miami, it is a very diverse campus. It is unlikely that someone would feel they do not belong. If a person does not mind an urban setting, but is not looking for a school with a huge campus, and is willing to work hard to accomplish their academic goals, FIU could be right for them.
Kayla
There is no certain type of person that should attend. If you want somewhere that is international, exciting, fun, caring, unique, in the middle of everything, top notch, then FIU is the school for you. Although it is a young school compared to many 4 year universities, FIU has proved itself to be an excellent contendor for bright minds, leaders in society and more.
Ithalie
People with a lazy disposition should not attend F.I.U. This school forces you to be self-driven, and hard-working.
adegunwa
Transfer students, non-spanish speaking students, students that love to have the university feel, students that like school extracurricular activities should not attend this school.
Raquel
Anyone with a closed mind, who is not ready and willing to engage in this university and make the best of their experiences in order to to transcend them into their future lives.
Kimberly
A person that is not dedicated to their studies.
