Im a permanent resident but did my first degree and masters at University of the West Indies, Jamaica and enrolled to start my PhD in Education at FIU this fall. The only frustrating thing for me is that I had no idea that I needed to apply for scholarships long before I know whether I will be granted admissions to the school, and so I don't know if i will be able to afford tution for my first year, so i hope I get this scholarship to help me!

Pursuing an education is essential to succeed as a professional. However, it is frustrating when you want to achieve more and go further but you cannot. Florida International University is one of the most prestigious universities in Miami, yet it is difficult to find good advisors and professors. Unfortunately, the school is overcrowded. They have established numerous exams and requisites for transfer students to fulfill but they do not provide the tools we need to understand better the transferring process.

Trying to find parking.
Patrick
Parking can get to be a huge pain. Also, all the food on campus is so much more expensive.
Katherine
There is no student space.
Caroline
Scheduling classes at FIU is the most frustrating task I ever had to endure. The worst part is the university’s cycling of classes. FIU has the logic that every student is on the same path. During the Fall Semester, thousands of classes should be provided for Chemistry I and barely any for Chemistry II, then the reversed for the Spring Semester. For the Summer Semester, barely any upper level courses are provided, because the student should be taking summer internships. Despite the fact that there are part-time internships that can be balanced with college classes.

The most frustrating thing is having to wait in long lines for the financial aid office, and I totally have a problem with not being able to do track&field and be in a nursing major at the same time.

In my opinion, the most frustrating thing about my school, would without a doubt have to be , the method used to arrage our own semester schedule. I can hardly find any of the classes i wish to take because of availability. The classes fill up very quickly due to the amount of students and the system fails or the classes fill up and no new ones open.
Kayla
Registering for classes. If your registration date isn't among one of the first available, you might not get all the classes you need.
Teresa
Due to the large amount of people that attend my school, it is very difficult to get around and class sizes are large.
Lawnda
being a new student you have to always ask someone whwere to go, but afterwards its easy.
Daniel
The only thing I can think of that is not-so-good at FIU is that there have been a few cases of misunderstandings and mistakes with certain departments, like Financial Aid

It can be boring on-campus unless you join greek. It's difficult to get all the classes you need. Parking is impossible, especially on the first day of school.
Lauren
Parking. The way in which Miami is set up makes it nearly impossible not to own a car, which makes parking at a school with around 40,000 students a lengthy affair.

The school is a commuter school, so most people just come to class and right after they leave for their respective houses also the area of the school is a high spanish speaking area so it is hard to deal with and understand people since I do not speak spanish. There are lots of prerequisites and graduation requirements to be fulfilled.
Jennyfer
The variety of classes offered.
Kimberly
There is not much to be frustrated about except that parking is impossible,
Maria
The size of the school can lead to many inconveniences. Parking spaces are limited (to put it lightly), class enrollment is incredibly competitive and confusing, and class sizes can be incredibly large.
Gabriela
Parking. Lines. Large classes. Costs of books.
