We are really really preppy. I've seen preppier and of course there are those who aren't, but overall we are a very preppy campus.

One stereotype is that Gettysburg students are all rich. Another stereotype is that all of Gettysburg's students went to private high schools.

Although we emphasize diversity, students make jokes about this. They say, in more crude terms, that we have very little diversity. We also have a stereotype of having rich, stuffy students who only like to drink and socialize instead of go to college for what it is intended.

There is definitely the stereotype that everyone here is a rich, white and from New Jersey. We are known as J. Crew U because of the prepiness of the students.

Some people stereotype Gettysburg students as being wealthy, preppy students who get by on their parents' money without having to work hard to achieve success. Gettysburg is also seen as somewhat of a party school.
