I loved GMC and the campus. I loved everything about this school and I was very happy. Unfortunately that was all ripped away because they closed. It was bittersweet and now the campus just sits and is waiting for something new to come along. Long live gmc!

I love the people I've encountered. I will say that some are too politically active and protest before considering all options. Students agree we don't judge but if you are a Republican, don't recycle, eat meat, or a male people will generally rebel or at least point it out. I love my friends and the tight knit community. Some professors don't seem passionate or informed about what they teach, but they are amazing people who have done incredible things in their lifetime. It's pretty easy to get bored but the atmosphere is overall something I wouldn't trade.

It’s a great college if you are looking for a small, private, and tight knit college. Great teachers and great people. The food is so so but they have many options for vegans and vegetarians! They have varsity sports and intramural sports! Also they have great events on the weekends.

Taleana - 06/29/2018

Green Mountain College is a environmental liberal arts school with a purely nature feel. Most classes relate to the environment and it is a very different way to get your education. I thoroughly enjoyed the campus and the class size. Vermont is beautiful and so is the campus. The school is extremely small and close nit.

Make sure you know what you are signing yourself up for. Do not pick classes based on what sounds cool, do it because you want to learn it. If you go to a small school get out into the real world as much as possible, because there is always next weekend to sit around the house.

  4. What's unique about your campus?

The best thing about GMC has to be the sense of community. Everyone is willing to help each other out with school work, or with advice on life. There is a great connection that circulates the campus that ties everyone together. We appreciate experiences with one another and with such a small school, friendship is plentiful.

  5. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

It really needs students' tuition dollars so it is very lenient on students who perform poorly academically or behaviorally. Students are admitted who should not have been, and continue to perform badly while detracting value from classes for others. Many students are easily temped by drugs and alcohol and lack motivation to become involved in activities/programs, or initiate their own. This is a small school and can provide many unique opportunities that some students simply ignore or fail to see.

  6. What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?

The best and worst thing about it is how small it is. Everyone knows you and by the second week you will know everyone. That can be an advantage or a disadvantage. In the winter time everyone gets in a rut and doesn't do much.

  9. What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?

When I talk to my friends about my school, I always end up coming back to the beautiful environment in and around the campus. There is a scenic little farm on campus where students have the opportunity to work. Also, the campus is within reach of many great hiking trails and mountain peaks, and the college itself owns a nature preserve nearby which is open for students to enjoy. As much as I enjoy the fun we have on campus, I it's nice to have a peaceful and serene place to go. Nothing beats the Vermont scenery.

  18. Describe the dorms.

The dorms are pretty nice. They look really nice from the outside, but when the weather is really harsh, it's reflected inside as well. By this I mean that in the summer it's way too hot, and the winter it's way too cold. The heating and cooling system isn't the best. Also, the furniture in the dorms are pretty old.
