Chris
They are all very nice and tend to interact with eachother right away, even if no one has met before.
Kevin
My classmates do not show up for class.
Anthony
They are all either Italian or Jewish. Many are only at Hofstra because college is just something everyone does after high school.
John
My classmates are very school and career oriented, but still like to enjoy their time at college and have a good time.
Danny
Typical Long Island students, but some are very focused, and others aren't so much. It's just like an average class.
Mike
Most students are from a wealthy background and drive their BMW's and Mercedes' that their daddy's bought them. I deal with the "normal" people at Hofstra who are down to Earth and do not show how wealthy they are. You can find people who are really great friends and people. Most of the people in the TV department are nice people and I get along with them. Most of the students are from Long Island and they do carry out that stereotypical Long Island mind set of Jager Bombs.

I think that many diverse groups of students are represented on campus. I don't really think that anyone should feel out of place here at Hofstra because there are so many different groups of people. I mean, if you were to say that you felt out of place, I'm sure that everyone here could identify with the reasons you give, because with such a diverse population, there are enough differences between people that it's difficult to find a group of people with identical traits and interests. There is a big divide in the student body between students involved in "Greek Life" (Fraternities and Sororities) and everyone else, because students involved in Greek Life generally consider themselves better than everyone else. The exception is students involved in departmental honors fraternities.
Nora
the student body at hofstra is very diverse
Michael
I can't really say i have had a lot of experiences with other people considering that i am a commuter student, but i am sure when living on campus that it is much easier to meet new people and learn about different cultures. I believe an introvert person would feel out of place because a lot of people at hofstra are extroverted and outgoing, you need to be able to talk and have an outgoing personality to meet people and gain friends.
Sharon
I've found that most students here lean more to the left of the political spectrum. Since I am also a Democrat, I don't feel out numbered, but I think it might be interesting to have conflicting ideas with someone once in a while to liven up conversation. This seems to be more of an issue lately because of the upcoming presidential debates next year.
Tammy
The students on campus are very open minded. The students here are very diverse and no one finds it odd. There are groups, but its not based on race or religion. Students tend to hang out more with people who have similar majors or are in similar clubs, but they aren't objective to seeing other people. A lot of the students here are from Long Island or New York in general but then there are also people from places like Ohio (me for example) and California and Oregon and Colorado, Hofstra students come from all over the place. The students here all have their own passion; some are very active in the arts, some are very active in politics, and some are just passionate about their major. There really is a place for everyone on campus.
Christine
There are about a billion socio-cultural groups and clubs on campus. You're definitely going to find a niche where you fit in. Although these certain clubs do exist, don't be surprised if certain prejudices occur, because I've seen it happen. Most students here are either politically left of center, or don't care about politics at all. Hofstra is similar to a high school, where you'll find different groups of people where you can fit in, but there's little interaction between the groups.
John
I find the body to be very diverse. Almost 50{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of the study body is from out of state. Also i feel that there is greater diversity on this campus than there are on other campuses. I work with several members of the LGBT community, they're really cool doods.
Lindsey
I do not particularly enjoy a majority of the students. Many, many are self-involved. I find it especially disheartening that students do not partake in the opportunities that Hofstra provides via guest speakers (in a wide variety of topics). A majority of the audience is always 65 plus.
Lorie
The students here are all very different; there is an abundance of diversity. There is always somewhere for someone to fit in. Everyone here is also very open to others opinions and ways of life.
Brianna
Uggs and stretchy pants. Gag me. I notice that the most, simply because you tend to notice the things you hate over the things you have no opinion over. I live in a Chem bubble, so I rarely eat in the student center enough to know the 4 tables or the political views. I don't like politics so I really don't care. People here are generally nice, but spoiled.
Matthew
I hear name calling a lot on campus.
Samantha
Everyone loves each other. Seriously. We're a big happy 8,000 undergraduate student family.
Bevan
Gays are awesome! Socially awkward people would feel out of place
Mary
Alot of Hofstra Students come from Long Island, but also alot of my friends are from New England, California, and New Jersey
