My college experience was delayed for over twenty years, but it has been well worth the wait! I attended two semesters of college right after high school, but I wasn't mature enough to appreciate the opportunity. The delay has given me time to decide "what I want to be when I grow up". I now realize how invaluable a college education is. Attending online classes has allowed me to update my computer skills while earning my degree. As I begin my on campus classes, I look forward to the opportunity to interact with a wider range of age groups than I encounter on a daily basis at my current job. Once I complete my Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies, I hope earn a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Overall, the biggest benefit of attending college has been the effect on my teenage daughters. Watching me struggle to work and go to school has impressed upon them the importance of completing their education.

When choosing to go to college the only thought I had was that a degree would help me get a good job later in life. But through the process of attending Kent State University I have learned so much more than I could have in simple academia. By going to a university that is far away from home I have learned independence and life skills such as budgeting, both time and money, and confronting people when issues have arisen instead of running away from the problem. I have also learned how to interact within an unfamiliar place with new people. I have developed leadership skills within these groups by being given opportunities to be in leadership roles in the resident halls, as a Resident Assistant, in organizations, as treasurer, and in classes through group projects. I would not trade the things I have learned at Kent State University for anything, and I am very grateful for opportunities that have been given to me while attending this school.

College has taught me more about life and how to handle difficult situations than I expected. Over the past year and a half, I have encountered different circumstances that have inevitably changed my decision processes, life choices and view of the world. College has enlightened me and broadened my horizons further than I ever thought possible. I am no longer close-minded to others and their ways of life. College is such an important experience that everyone must find out about for themselves. I can tell someone everything I have been through, the beautiful and the bad, yet they will never fully get to experience what I have been so lucky to.

From the beggining being in college was like a full-time job with no sleep. I had to learn how to use my time efficiently and be responsible for myself. Eventually through hard work and dedication these responsibilities became easier and I was able to take on new and better responsibilities. I have learned that my mindset can be my best friend or my worst enemy and that with the right mindset and a good plan that you can do just about anything. Going to college taught me how to live on my own and luckly I have learned from the majority of the mistakes I've made. College is a great place to make and learn from your mistakes and by doing so you will learn more about who you are as an individual which is the most important learning expereince to me. Attending college has taught me that people will continue to grow and change and that it is something that you cannot control. Even though the path ahead is going to be hard I am ready for it because I know I with hard work and dedicaton that eventually I will be where I want to be.

I gotten so many lessons and experiences out of college. I learned to listen and communicate with others better then before. It has been valuable to attend because I learned varieties of subjects. From chemistry to black history to psychology. This experience allowed me to learn how to be more responsible and independent. Even though I am studying chemistry I learn more majors because of all the information that fulfills me. I am blessed and very thankful for every thing that has came my way.

It has been so valuable for me to attend college. First of all because I gained more knowledge in my field of study which is Administration of Justice. It has also been so valuable to me because I earned my Associates Degree. My college experience was great because I got to meet great professors who always helped me with any questions I had. Thanks to these professors I gained all the knowledge I now have and thanks to them I prepared myself to go on to a University and continue with my education. I have grown as a person and I am prepared to continue with my education and get a job in my field of study. All of this has been a great valuable experience for me.

I have learned 2 major lessons (along with others) mostly dealing with team work and hard work. I work for the Fire District of Sun City West in Arizona and would not be here without my education. I have played sports most of my life but I didn't feel that I ever learned the true meaning of teamwork until I went to college. Teamwork is important in my life and profession because my co-workers and the community I serve depend on me and as a team player to save lives and go home to our family every night. I also learned from my college experiance that you really can be whatever you want though hard work and dedication. I had a dream of being a firefighter right out of high shcool and found it possible if I was willing to put in the hard work, and the importance of a the reputation I build from the work I do will help or hurt me in my future in my profession and in life.

Out of my college experiences to date, I have learned more about who I am as a person. I’ve learned that I stick to my goals. For example, I’m going to college to get a degree in wildlife conservation biology. I want to prolong the life of this planet. This is an enormous objective. Yet I have not faltered. College has been valuable to attend in that I have been working toward a goal and get closer to achieving that goal every day. College is helping to empower me as an individual, I would never be able to do what I want with my life without it.

I got a solid foundational education in the science of geology, which will make it possible for me to both work and build upon that knowledge in the field.

Amnea

I have been able to learn about myself and see what else is outside of my small hometown. I also am able to learn things from my school of journalism that I wouldn't be able to get anywhere else and there are tons of opportunities .

I have thoroughly enjoyed my college education and wouldn't change a thing. It has been an invaluable experience, I feel I have found myself at Kent State. I'm 25 years old and in the past few years in college I have realized the paths I want to take in life and how I'm going to get there. My professors have been priceless in aiding and guiding me in the right direction, suggesting and supporting my academic and personal decisions related to my future schooling and career. I don't know where I would be right now without this life-altering college experience at Kent State. I feel education is of the utmost importance to any person anywhere in the world, hopefully one day universal education will be achievd for all, regardless of ethnicity, race, religion or sex. As Kofi Annan once quoted "Knowledge is Power. Information is Liberating. Education is at the premise of progress, in every society, in every family."

During my college experience I have learned how to be a more responsible person as well as learn how to better manage my time. When you start college, you dont start with too many responsibilities except to get good grades and to do your best. As you get older you realize that life goes on, whether your in college or not. You pick up more responsibilities and sometimes you have to learn how to suck it up and do those things that you don't want to because now your an adult. Even if it means picking up those extra hours at that job you hate so you can pay for that biology book. It has been a very valuable experience for me to attend college because it has allowed me to grow up and learn how to get rid of my bad habits such as procrastination. It has allowed me to pick up certain skills such as money management and problrm solving skills. Everything that I am learning just from attending college, I am more than positive that these skills and assets will be of use to me when I graduate from KSU in fall of 2012.

I have gotten a lot of of the whole college experience that I wish I knew in high school! In just one semester, I have become much more responsible with my studies. I graduated a year early, so I felt a little out of place at the beginning, but quickly adapted. I love how you get to meet a ton of new people and you get a lot of independence. With that also comes a lot of self discipline because it's extremely important for me to transfer to a university and continue my education. I'm trying to get the best grades I can because my parents are unable to pay for any of my education. College is amazing, and I really hope that I'm able to get some kind of aid or win some scholarships to be able to achieve my goal of becoming a crime scene investigator.

Rachel

I have gotten a great deal of education from my college experience thus far. I have learned so much from professors that have worked in the fashion industry. And as cliched as it sounds, an education is something that cannot be taken from me, no matter what, so that makes this something that is quite valuable to me.

Danielle

I have learned about many different subjects such as: French, Russian, Anthropology, Human Communication, and more. Furthermore college has been a practical lesson for me in becoming even more resourceful. I got away from home and it's forcing me to learn, and generally necessity is the best teacher.

I have been able to realize my weaknesses and been humbled to know that I am not the smartest person in the world. I have also realized that people are generally good and that there is a need for compassion in any career field. several professors have said if you leave this course leave with a piece of advice, be honest, strong, and unwavering in personal beliefes: after all at the end of the day you only have your integrity.

Kristina

The most important thing that I have gotten from my college experience is confidence. I came to Ohio from Montana and I didn't know anyone on campus or anyone in nearby towns I could call if there was an emergency. I grew up in a small town and had never moved. so I have never had to make completely new friends before. I never realized just how difficult and how easy making friends can be. If you are so nervous your scared to try it is difficult but if you overcome your nerves and put yourself out there you will meet some amazing people. I have also gained confidence through having to make decisions. I had to make a life changing decision about switching majors. I started in Theatre Studies but quickly realized I didn't want to make a career out of acting. However, I had no idea what I wanted to do. I finally made the educated decision to switch to communications. It was scary making such a big decision but I am confident that I did what is best for me. Living on my own has developed my confidence more than I ever imagined.

I have gotten out of my college experience, so far, some good friends. I have met a ton of great and interesting people. I have had some great teachers that I have made great bonds with. I have also had some very interesting classes. Academically I have done well and I have learned a lot that will help me with my future goals. This campus is good to attend because campus is very relaxing during those stressful times. If you enjoy the outdoors this campus is perfect. Most of the teachers care about your success in their classes. There will always be that one teacher that is not as willing to help no matter where you go to school. I do not feel like I am in danger while on campus. Overall campus life is very fun and it is a great school to attend.

My college experience has been the most crucial step in my life thus far. Attending a university away from home has taught me valuable lessons such as money management and independence. Not to mention, I have gained confidence and self-reliability as a result of being on my own. Kent State's interior design program provides great opportunies for all of its students. For example, the classrooms are set in studios where students are able to work in an environment that's similar to the workplace. I'm convinced that I will be fully prepared for the real world once I graduate.
