I wish i had known about the open enrolment policie at Kent State University, this would have connvinced me to enrol here as a freshman.

How important it is.

I knew more than other students, due to the fact I joined an early summer program called Acacdemic S.T.A.R.S program. The Academic STARS Program is a freshman year transition/retention program that begins with a seven-week summer program. The summer program offers a unique opportunity to earn up to 7 credit hours that will be applied toward graduation and an introduction to a wide range of resources available at Kent State University; therefore, I wish more students were aware of the same program.

I wish I have firmly decided on what I wanted to do with my life, because I feel as though I'm behind because I picked up another major.

The one thing I wish I had known before coming to Kent State University is what classes exactly I had tested out of from my upper level high school courses. That way I would have not scheduled a class my first semester that I did not have to take.

I never thought I would be homesick until I moved away. My family lives in the area and I can go home on weekends, but it isn't the same. I suppose its natural to miss your family, but it's also the day to day routine and the little conveniences of home. I have made sure I have plenty of pictures and I now truly appreciate those special moments I took for granted before. I also wish I had spent more time learning the area. I have a car but it is still hard to get around town.

What I had wish I've known before I came to Kent State University is the direct I wanted to head to and the type of degree in which I wanted to pursue. I'm a transfer student from the University of Findlay, and I was trying to find myself and in some ways I believe that my freshman year of college was a waste. I was questioning a lot of my actions and I wasn't feeling comfortable with my surroundings nor the way I presented myself as a freshman college student.

I wish I would have known you were able to create your own student organizations or non-profits because I just started an on-campus organization as a junior. If I had started this group when I was a freshman I would have more members and could have established multiple organizations to serve the Kent community and provide aid to non-profits such as World Vision, Unicef, and others that fight poverty around the world. There are many ways to get involved at Kent State University, but often times prospective students and underclassmen do not know what is available.

I wish I had known that they have a TEFL program before I went to a different school for my first semester of college. Kent State University is one of the few schools in the U.S. that has a TEFL program that offers you experience teaching and also the opportunity to study abroad to receive certification to teach English as a foreign language, which is my main career goal.

Before I came to Kent State University, I wish I would have known how extremly competitive it is for admission into the various colleges. Especially Kent's College of Nursing.
