We are centered in Washington Square Park but our dorms and buildings spread far across the Village and Lower Manhattan. We have a large gay community that is openly accepted here.

The university has no official campus, and is mixed in with the rest of the city. The students live, work and study as a part of New York City, one of the most vibrant, exciting places in the world.
Elise
The independence and environment.
Kimberly
It's in the middle of NYC.
Catherine
The campus is not really a campus - but a city.

NYU doesn't have a campus or a tight knit community. It has a music program that is not performance based, focusing on music theory, history, and musicology.

Living and studying in New York City offers students to come across a great diversity of people in age, orientation, religion, ethnicity, race, and interests. It provides an inspirational and motivating environment for artists and academics alike, allowing all students a chance to deeply explore their passions and to learn more about who they are. NYU attracts some of the most intelligent students and professors, making the classroom setting a feast for the mind. There is also a great range of classes that can fit any curious interest, and the social life outside the classroom is unparalleled in experiences.
Katrina
Best film school in the country. Hands down. And you can get a great liberal arts education at the same time, all in one of the most diverse, vibrant and exciting cities in the world.

NYU is in the heart of NYC, the world's media capital, making job opportunities very possible and serving as a place where strong and important connections can be developed. With that said, NYC also entices many people from all over the world to study at NYU and bring the best and most pertinent and admirable of guest speakers and guest lecturers into the classroom. Despite our lack of a "campus" and arguably sub-par sports teams, NYU provides so much more than four years of tailgating and gathering at the quad; it provides an academically engaged community.
Robyn
there's no place like new york city to live in for college.
Pamela
Location, location, location. The best thing about NYU, especially for someone intersted in the theatre or the arts, is the fact that we're IN New York City. You step out of your dorm onto 5th Avenue every morning, not a stuffy, preppy campus.
Bryant
It's in the heart of NYC. Lots of people, lots of jobs.
