Northeastern University Top Questions

Sometimes the student body seems very large and it's unlikely that you will run into the same people again if you do not have classes or activities together.

The large, varied population makes it difficult to find close friends. It is easy to feel alone at Northeastern which can be hard for freshmen to deal with. One must really make an effort to meet new people with similar interests if they aren't lucky enough to find close friends at orientation or in their dorms.

The only thing I don't like is that there are so limited options with the meal plan.

The worst thing about Northeastern is its naivete. We are a very successful school and that deludes us into thinking we are the most successful school, pr will be soon. Northeastern's ranking in the U.S. News & World Report shot from outside the top 100 to 42, inside a decade, but the competition is much thicker now and Northeastern's relatively smaller endowment and younger traditions make it a featherweight candidate by these heightened standards of merit. Instead of letting our inevitable plateau disillusion us, we should focus on entrenching what we have--but our naivete prevents us.

The worst thing about Northeastern University is a tie between the unpredictable weather and the lack of tables on the second floor of Snell. Also be sure to keep good ties with the financial aid office.. the nicer you are the more help you get!

There is honestly nothing bad that I can say about Northeastern, I've had nothing but good experiences here and I would reccommend it to anyone.

Smokers standing outside of buildings. Northeastern is a very "green" school, I wish they would do something about the kids who stand right outside doorways and smoke cigarettes.

Some of the classes are WAY too big - I've had a class of 300. Also, the campus is large and it can be difficult to get to class on time if you have two back to back and they're far from each other (there's only 10 minutes between classes).

The worst thing about Northeastern is the price because you will be in so much debt once you graduate. It's making me re-think going to school here because of all the debt I've accumulated over the year that I've been here.

Although the extremely cold winter does pose a challenge for students who have never experienced an east-coast winter, the worst thing about Northeastern is the abundance of cliques and the elitist behavior of many of the students. Boston is certainly nowhere near as friendly and welcoming as the South or as laid-back and relaxed as the west-coast and so to students from those parts of the country, the locals can seem as cold as the weather.

The worst thing about Northeastern University is the size of the school. Being a large university in the city makes it hard to stand-out and become part of the college community. However, you are still able to develop a close group of friends and the small class sizes make it possible to work one-on-one with your professors. A smaller university enables the college to unite, but at Northeastern the outstanding athletics and large group of organizations bring the student body together in an energetic and spirited environment.

The career services center was pretty worthless to me. They only really help the business and science majors, and are completely lost about what to do with anyone looking for jobs in a creative field. When I went there for advice, the counselor actually showed me how to use google instead of giving me career suggestions. Her suggestion was to type in my interests and see if the internet would find the job for me, when what I was really asking her was what kind of career fields I should pursue based on my education.

The worst thing about this school is again the financial aspect. The school gives great financial aid but then they also do not make it clear as to how much total will have to be paid. Everything else at the school is pretty much great.

Every student attending Northeastern University has experience the 'NU Shuffle.' This refers to when a student has a problem, question, or concern and gets the run around from multiple administrators or it takes way too long to get an answer.

The worst thing about my school is that it's so big so you hae too many options at times and cannot get involved in as many activities as you'd like because there is not enought time in the day.

Northeastern University is an amazing school but if I had to choose one thing that was bad about my school it would have to be the fact that the meal plans are very expensive and that the housing is also expensive.
