Out of my college experience i have gotten a feel of the Real world, college has taught me responsibility and showed me i can't be lazy about my studies like i did in High School. College is a priviledge, your in it or your not. Its worth all the money it sums up to be. Without out college i probably would have to settle for a normal retail job. Going to college expands your opportunites to excel in your future.

My college experience has taught me the importance of friends and being comfortable in your environment. Its also taught me how to perservere through bad time. It was very hard for me when I first got to San Diego State University. I didn't have friend and I didn't know anybody. I'm also not a very social person. It made me uncomfortable and sad to go to school because I had no one to enjoy my classes with or even anyone to talk to. Because I was so miserable, I lacked the energy and the will to go to class. I'd often skip because I just didnt feel like it was worth it. But when I finally found people who I could share my experience with, my eyes were opened to this great place where I learn about myself and about what I could be in the future. Through this time, I learned to be on my own and to try to make the best of a bad situation. Now, college is a breeze. I have great classes and some boring bad classes, but in the end its all going to help me be a better person.

I am not the traditional college student. My parents, Cuban immigrants who migrated to the U.S. to escape communism before I was born are very poor. At 21 years of age, I shared a small two bedroom apartment in Miami with my parents, older brother and cousin. I slept on a sofa — and not the kind with a pullout bed. My father, once an up and coming commissioned artist in Cuba, was painting houses to make ends meet. My mother lost her low-wage factory job when she became pregnant with me, and never went back to work. To help myself, and my parents, I enrolled in a one-year massage therapy program at an alternative medicine college in Miami. I graduated and opened small business with a friend. With that money, I put myself through a four year program and accomplished a bachelor's degree in journalism. Without my college experience, I would not have landed a job as a free-lance writer for a publication in Florida. I would not have become a massage therapist, which has now inspired me to pursue a nursing career. More importantly, I would not have been able to help my parents.

Despite the set backs of not having a steady job and giving up everything I know to go to school and get a degree. I love my classes. I am inspired by the professors and their passion for thier field. The professors here make me feel as if I can really make a difference in the world with my goals and seeing how much they have accomoplished makes me feel like anything is possible. I am grateful for being able to converse with these enlightened individuals on a daily basis and hope that our communication stays strong in the future. I see that being here gives me so many more opportunites than a community college and that the overall environment of a college campus is youthful, free, and exciting. I have been a part of numerous clubs and organization in my short time here, and am able to explore many of my other interests such as art and dance. I know that all these skills I gain here at the university i will carry with me for the rest of my life. The friendships I am making, the professionalism I am gaining is more than I could ask for.

My experience at San Diego State University has helped make me the person I am today. Living on campus was by far the best learning experience. There is this feeling of independence and you quickly realize that you are responsible for you. Of course the umbilical cord is still slightly attached; however, it is the first big jump toward independence. Attending college also forces you to realize that your education is what you want to make of it. You attend classes because it’s important to you, not because the attendance office is going to call home. You begin to define what education means to you and how seriously you want to take it. In addition to academics, there is the social aspect of college. This is a time of personal growth. You make lifelong friends and build networks that will help you later in life. The academic and social components of college together make for an invaluable experience that will last a lifetime. My personal experience at SDSU fostered my desire to continue my education in order to make a difference in the world, and I built relationships that will help make my dream become a reality.

it has given me a life experience that will not be forgotten and prepared me for what is to come in life while preparing me to become a well rounded and better person

For me, college has represented much more than I thought it would. It has opened countless doors and allowed me to grow exponentially as an individual. In the past two years of college I have learned more about life, happiness and true values than I had in the previous 18. College is much more than just a place for academics, it is a platform for life, and an opportunity for kids to grow out of adolescence and explore opportunities they never before considered. The mind sculpted by a college experience is enriched far beyond those who never attend, not only academically, but socially as well as morally. College has made me into an intellectual human being ready to contribute to society and change the world for the better, and I have only been here for two years.

I believe education is one of the best things we can do for ourselfs. I feel very rewarded when I accomplish in earning a degree in my medical Field. I very much enjoy learning new things and applying that to my current career.

Although I have just started college, I absolutely love it. It gives me both a place to relax and enjoy the new journey I am starting yet allows me to also stay rigid with my schooling. I think what I am enjoying the most right now is the opportunity to actually attend a university because without scholarships I would never be able to afford it. I work very hard for everything I have and cherish every moment. I feel blessed to be one of the few lucky ones who know what they want to do with their lives and now it's my turn to take the initiative to achieve my dreams.

I have learned numerous things in my major of Homeland Security Information Technology/Cyber Secutiry. One of the biggest things is that the U.S. isnt as secure as most people think that it is.
