What is the stereotype of students at Temple University? Is this stereotype accurate?

I'm not sure if there is a stereotype at this school, besides the ones about the art students. Tyler School of Art is probably the most hipster place in the northeast. Everyone's got a style they think is original, which is really just outdated nineties. And the amount of females with nose rings (and some males) is outstanding. Apparently, nose rings with art students is like an acceptable facial tattoo. Since you can turn it up, you can get a "real" job. If you don't want a "real" job, then don't worry about what you put into your face- you work for yourself! Everything people say about the art students is true (me being an art student myself), so beeeeee wary~...

I don't find any stereotype at this school.

I think geeks are the stereo types. They are so called "otaku" who are not flexible at anything. But we never judge people so there weren't really any discrimination or anything.

Templemade... and yes it is true

When it is nice outside the white students gather around the Bell Tower (known as Beury Beach) and the black and Spanish students play music and hang out on Liacouras Walk. The game room in the Howard Gittis Student Center, as well as the wall of food shops located near Anderson Hall are frequented mostly by the Asian Students. You may think that it's the nerds that are in the TECH Center and Paley Library at all hours of the night, but it is actually the procrastinators that are found "sleeping over" in these buildings. Frat kids like to think they run the school, but their power stops at the doors of the frat house. By this I mean the only power they hold on campus is to whether or not they allow non- Greeks access to their parties.

Temple University is known as "Diversity University". We have a variety of stereotypes that include the Greeks, Athletes/Jocks and the Geeks. Just like pretty much any stereotype, they are not accurate.

One big stereotype at my school is 'ghetto' for lack of a better word. People assume that because we are diverse, and live in the city, that we are somehow 'ghetto' whatever that may mean. Yes. North Philadelphia is a very interesting place to live, and yes, you may have a homeless person ask you for money at least once a day. However, the quality of student at Temple is extremely impressive, and our community is very respectful and educated.

Well, I go to Temple University which is a huge school in Philadelphia with over 30,000 students. There is no stereotype for us because we are vastly diverse group of people. Most of the student are hard workers that usually balance a job, social life, and being a student. However, I think everyone in college goes through this.

Many Temple students are seen as "hipsters". A prominent stereotype at Temple is that all hipsters ride city bikes, dress in ragged clothes on purpose, and have an often aloof attitude. This stereotype is fairly accurate. Many Temple students subscribe to the "hipster" lifestyle and fulfill the stereotypes.

Like every college, there exists various stereotypes about the students who attend that school whether based on the school's reputation or on the reputation of the students themselves. Temple University is a really diverse college which is one of the reasons as to why I decided to attend. With such a diversity comes with it people from different backgrounds who possess all sorts of widespread stereotypes. We have what people call jocks, the frat kids, geeks, etc. What should be known is that this is completely different environment from what takes place in high school. These are still cliques but I find that at Temple, these cliques are not as segregated as they are at most schools and the students involved in them are not ostracized from other groups and are friends with people who are not in their particular group. There are stereotypes that one may hold about a particular group but that doesn't mean that those stereotypes are acted upon. Temple is a very inviting and warm college which makes it easier to make friends with anybody you might have never thought you would get along with. Once you get to know someone on an individual level, you get to see them in a whole new light and they could turn out to be your best friend. Since Temple is not a very big school, meeting people is not that hard if you are willing to let go of some of the stereotypes that have been thrown in our faces from where we come from. Don't judge others because then you too will be judged.
