The caliber of academics and professors. Most of our professors are research scientists. So if you are in the bioscience field or at all interested, UCSD is on the cutting edge and so are the professors. This gives the students opportunities to be involved with lots of different kinds of research. On the flip side, UCSD has an extensive and amazing visual arts program. They get some of the better known, avant garde, cutting edge artists to teach, guest teach and/or perform. UCSD knows it's a rigorous academic program, so they provide lots of space for studying.

I consider the six separate colleges of UCSD very expressive in my field of study. Students are able to individually experience focused study points in their major field. Having the six colleges within UCSD offer specific classes with interesting professors who are helpful to reach our fullest potential.

I felt like I could go anywhere. The campus itself is very spacious and each of the six colleges has its own distinctive look and atmosphere. And even if you somehow manage to get bored of the campus, you can go to the International Center to hang out with students from around the world or even find out how to study abroad.

The best thing about UC San Diego is the close proximity to my hometown. I am able to go home on the weekends in case I need to get away for a while since college life does get overwhelming at times.

Professors care about students despite having so many students. If students really make an effort to ask questions, they will get good grades.

The quality of the academics is the best thing. The professors are all experts in thir field, though some are more interested in their research than teaching students. Though most professors seem to really care about the success of their students and passing on their knowledge in their field.

I consider the teachers the best thing about this school. They seem to care and prepare you for your career goals. They engage you in the learning process and explain the material well, since most have been in the working field. They have the lecture classes and then discussion and lab. The class hours are spread out so your not on overload. You may invite a professor to dinner/discussion and have a relaxing and enjoyable one on one meeting. This seems to make it more on a personal level.
