College has been a life changing experience for me. I have learned that I am such a stronger, more independent person and I am capable to achieving any and all dreams I may have. I had a somewhat rough time my freshman year adjusting to my new life away from home but I am so thankful that I experienced it here, at UCF. They walked me through the year and made it a much more enjoyable experience. The things I have learned so far, not just academically, but about myself, will be valuable to me for many, many years to come.

My college experience so far has taught me how to be independant and more responsible. College is valuable to me because without a degree, I do not have any chance of achieving my dream of becoming an anthropologist. I am very passionate and excited about my future and college is the only way to get there.

My college experience has been remarkable and life changing. I have met with hundreds of people and important higher authorities that have helped me network. I have attained motivation, dedication, value, amazing resources, and experience here at the University of Central Florida. College has motivated me to become my very best because of how serious it is. It has made me realize that I came here for one purpose, and that is to get my degree and expand my knowledge. It is extremely valuable to attend college because with a college degree respect, prestige, recognition, job opportunities, and endless possibilities occur. College is my investment to a successful career.

I think that being a part of this school has given me a push to find what I love. I constantly find myself trying new things and breaking out of my comfort zone in order to find things I enjoy. The professors are wonderful. They are all very well-educated in their fields and they constantly have me thinking. I often find myself discussing lectures after class with the professor and my classmates. This school has something for everyone. It's one of the largest in the nation, so you would think you would fade into the crowd, but that doesn't seem to be the case. There is a strong bond between classmates, within colleges, and even with the people on the bus. People here are friendly and helpful and it makes the whole experience a positive one.

I received so much from my college experience. The education I received assisted me in attaining the job I still currently have. I am still constantly pulling resources from college and utilizing them in my everyday work.

Helping heroin addicts accept clean needles. Uncovering secret cemetaries home to slavesud that worked tirelessly to build this empire. Observing father-daughter relationships at different ages to understand causes of sexual abuse. Spending every waking moment for thirty years to uncover the evolution of our ancestors. I literally cannot pick one field of Anthropology I want to devote my life to and after four long years of mulling over my options I think I have found my purpose. I could not have wandered down these ambitious paths without the help of a few brilliant minds. New Paltz gave me a Constructivism teacher that made me realize every single word shapes a different reality. With that I turned my sorority in a new direction. My Anthropology teacher there and at Olympic in Washington

When I said, “Today, I am a man” at my Bar Mitzvah, I thought that was it. I had reached the pinnacle of manhood. But I was still a boy. I had always gotten good grades and did what I was told, but I never took initiative. I never did things on my own. I just went with the flow and did whatever everyone had planned for me. I played at being a man, but truly, I was still just a boy. My time at UCF has changed all of that. I now know I have to take initiative. I am the one who has to take command of my future. I can’t leave that up to anyone else. I am now a person who looks for challenges and conquers them. I seek academic fulfillment instead of easy A’s. I look for extracurricular activities to enrich myself and others instead of resume builders. But most important of all, I have learned to step up and take responsibility for who I am and what I need to do. It wasn’t my Bar Mitzvah, but my year at UCF that’s made me a man.

I am in IT and have been doing it for years. Going to college is helping me learn things outside of what I normally do or deal with. The experience is a real eye opener.

So alright, yo pay attention, I had compiled a list of 365 things that have contributed to our success, but I was able to narrow it down to three main components. First, of these is the Dedication and the ability to continue to strive for a common goal, whether it be applying for Dual Enrollment; or insisting that the Orlando Magic is going to the Finals, even though they took loss. The second factor is aiming for excellence; when trying to rise above the best and move toward excellence. This ability to aim for excellence becomes impossible without my advisors! They are the key in the road to success. Lastly, they reinforced my ability to search for the connections and establish positive relationships; making and maintaining connections and working together lead to the complete formula for the road ahead. Together these three factors give the positive outline for future success.
Moving forward toward greater things, recognizing these keys to success is essential. UCF has served as the factory, where the mental engine has been constructed, refined and perfected with the proper fuel, pressure and spark for our ignition toward the road ahead.

Throughout college I have gotten a new sense of determination. I have gained the mindset that ," If someone else can get an A why can't I". With these words backing up my every academic action they have pushed me through a successful first year and a half of school. I have gained motivation to take on that fifth class or join that club. In college I have learned how to balace my time and make the right choices when it comes to school. Even though procrastination is a difficult thing to completely avoid being put face to face with deal lines and projects I have realized that with enough effort anything can be accomplished.

During my high school career, I was not the most social kid in the school. In fact, I used to stay in my house during the weekends and either do homework or watch television or sleep. I never went to my high school prom or had many close friends. I disliked my high school experience because I did not do anything to change my experience for the better. The University of Central Florida has given me a second chance to become myself, by offering me so many social opportunities like free kayaking, movie nights, ice cream socials, and salsa dancing. I have met many people and close friends from these social events from all around the United States and even different countries; which I would not have gotten from any other environment. The college experience has given me the life I always wanted; just being myself.

How to get out of your comfort zone. That has to be one of the most valuable things I have learned from the college expereience. When I was droped off last year I had to do something that I had never done in my entrie life. That is I had to learn how to take care of myself. I had to learn how to make friends in a place where everyone was a complete stranger. No longer was dinner a casual guaranteed thing, it became something that I had to manage on my own. I had to learn how to set my own alarm for school. Rather than rely on mom to wake me up every day, I now had to be my own alarm clock, with no one to push me out of bed but my self. Time management was another thing I had to learn. Being invited to parties and having no real curfew or anyone telling me that I ought to be doing homework, taught me that I had to be reponsible for my actions. I think it is valuable to attend college because it is the best way to learn how to truly grow up.

My college experience has opened my eyes and shown me what I am capable of if I put my mind and heart into it. Because I was a mediocre student in high school, I am very excited to see my full potential come to light in college when I give my studies one-hundred percent. I am very proud to say I have a 4.0 GPA, which comes from hard work and an understanding of how valuable my education is. Before I was a college student, I was a member of the U.S. ARMY. I spent two years in Iraq serving as an infantryman with the 10th Mountain Division. After getting out, I realized what I wanted and going to college was the first step I needed to take in order to reach my goal of becoming an accountant. I am not a traditional college student, being a twenty-eight year old disabled veteran; I have seen what the real world is like, both good and bad. College has proven to me how crucial hard work is if I want to succeed. This scholarship would definitely be a huge help for me in continuing to be successful.

I have had many bumps in the road throughout my college life. My first 2 years of school were a struggle for me. I never realized what is important for a college student. Since then, I have raised my GPA over 1.2 points. Many people would look at my situation and "do-over" their first 2 years. I feel I have learned so much from my mistakes as a freshman and sophomore. Being not only more mature, I have also learned what is most important to me. I have a much better head on my shoulders and am racing towards the finish line. Sure, if I graduated from Millsaps on time and without mishap I would be in a career right now. The money would be great, but the lessons I learned along the path I am currently on would have been lost. The places I have seen and lived would have been only dreams, and the people I have befriended along the way would be strangers. I consider my life lessons to be what I have gotten out of my college expericence, and being on the right path today is my real second chance.

Along with the academic value of college, belonging to a larger student body has been surprisingly valuable. Making friends in classes is rewarding as is finding out how they are involved in the larger corprate student body. I have had the privilage of working with the Mens football and soccer teams as well as the Womens basketball and volleyball teams while working in the Athletic Training program at the University of Central Florida. This opportunity to work with so many student athletes has opened my eyes to the value of a larger University. While most students only attend classes, others are competing at the collegiate level and balancing classes at the same time. I have found being around the Student Athletes is very inspiring and encouraging to accomplish more then just what is necessary for class. While the goal of college usually is to get an eduaction, graduate and work in a career you desire, the value of your college experience only increases if you make lasting memories along the way. While this is a lesson I learned in college maybe it is a lesson for life, that there is so much more to life then just getting by.

When I was young, my mother told me to go to college, because college is where the gates of freedom are located, and the embrace of knowledge is more welcoming than one can imagine. As a sophmore attending the University of Central Florida, I am proud to say I am a UCF Knight, and I bleed black and gold. By going to college I have become more eager to learn, listen, love, and remember. I didn't realise how important ones education can be until now. When my alarm goes off, I don't groan, I wake up excited to go to class and jump into the sea of material that awaits me. The reason college is so valuable is because no one can take your education from you, what I learn I can keep for forever. What I am studying will benefit me for years to come. I am preparing for the wrest of my life. The things a student once found boring becomes unusually interesting. Going to college allows a student to help themselves. What I have gotten out of my college experience is more than I have ever imagined.

Through my college experience, I had the pleasure of meeting many different people, some of which I can call friends; I have gained alot of knowledge in different areas of study, which have ultimately helped me pick the perferred degree that I wish to pursuit. College has expanded my mind and helped me look and view things in ways I have never done before, I can personally say this experince has deffently helped me move forward in life and has motivated me to be someone in this world; in this case I would say college is a very valuable resource to have under you belt.

After finishing up my first year of college I can really say I am glad I have made it this far in life because, this experience was like no other. It allowed me to not only grow up and mature but, it also gave me responsibilities I have never had. It allowed me to be my own person and taught me to rely only on myself to get tasks done. It taught me the value of money as well and the inportance of saving. It put me in an enviornment where I felt as if everyone was on the same page. Everyone was there to better themselves through education and was willing to put in the time and effort it took to make it happen. It was a place that beganto feel like home, everything began to become second nature to me which helped me feel better about everything. The experience showed me that these are the years that will mold your future. It showed me that my input determines my outcome and that is what has helped me grow the most. I know everything I want in life and only I can get myself there.

I have made a ton of friends and I have been set up for a very successful career.
