As a first-time college student, I can honestly say that the University of Central Florida is such a lively place to live. Student life is clearly a big priority at UCF. My closet is currently overflowing with the free shirts that are given out. There’s a shirt at every big event and it's been so fun accumulating them all as if they were collectables. Also, my RA, resident advisor, is so amazing. She’s the sweetest and most helpful person around. It was so welcoming to meet someone so joyful upon arrival. The RA’s are also responsible for hosting events and I’m so glad because that’s where I met one of my good friends. These are really the perfect opportunities to meet people. And while the food isn’t the best, it quickly gets overshadowed with all the clubs and organizations to join. I’ve already joined three and I’m planning on joining more next semester. So far, I’ve joined the equestrian club, where I’ve met so many people that love horses like I do. It’s so nice, especially since I’ve never had friends before that also rode horses. I’ve also joined the Venezuelan club association, it’s like a taste of home away from home. And lastly, I became a part of Young Poets Society, or YPS. The people there have genuinely been the friendliest and so fun to be around. UCF has really provided ways to get out of one’s comfort zone and I’m glad to say I’ve taken all the opportunities presented. Even in my short time there, I feel as if I’ve grown so much as a person, either by joining clubs or meeting new people, I’ve learned to become comfortable with myself even in uncomfortable places.

The University of Central Florida (UCF) stands out as an exemplary institution that offers a wealth of opportunities across various domains, including research, extracurricular activities, and academic advancement. As a student at UCF, I have experienced firsthand the countless ways in which the university fosters personal and professional growth. One of the most notable aspects of UCF is its commitment to providing students with robust networking resources. The university’s emphasis on research and professional development ensures that students have ample opportunities to gain hands-on experience in their respective fields. This support is crucial for career advancement, allowing students to build valuable connections and acquire practical skills that are highly regarded in the job market. Academically, UCF excels in offering a range of support systems designed to help students succeed. Professors are generally approachable and willing to assist students through office hours, providing additional guidance and support. Beyond individual interactions, UCF offers a variety of academic resources, including tutoring services and study programs, to enhance students’ learning experiences and address any challenges they may face. In addition to academic support, UCF provides a vibrant array of extracurricular activities. The campus is alive with opportunities for students to engage in free-form activities that cater to diverse interests. For those who find existing programs and organizations lacking, UCF encourages the creation of new initiatives, allowing students to cultivate their passions and interests. Socially, UCF is an excellent environment for meeting people from diverse backgrounds. The university’s inclusive atmosphere promotes the formation of meaningful connections and friendships, enriching the overall student experience. Whether through academic pursuits, extracurricular involvement, or social interactions, UCF offers a comprehensive platform for personal and professional development. The University of Central Florida is not only a great place for academic achievement but also a thriving community where students can explore their interests, build professional networks, and enjoy a dynamic social life.

UCF is a great school in Florida, one of the top ranked schools in academics, athletics, etc. The university is also quite accessible for students looking to go to a 4 year university. The facilities at UCF are top notch, providing a wide variety of resources to students.

Fabiana - 07/24/2024

I definitely think that UCF has a very healthy balance between academics and extracurriculars, there are always things to do on campus no matter what your interests are. I enjoy the diversity and wide variety of programs and resources offered at UCF. Sometimes the class sizes are a bit too large since there are so many students enrolled.

The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Central Florida is 49%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020 , _____ students were offered admission. The number of males who applied was _____ vs the number of females which was _____.

  2. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?

What is most important in selecting a college is to figure out what the student's needs are. Do they like the city, or do they like the country? Would they mind having over 40,000 students attending, or would they like a small 1000 student population. It is important to know whether the school offers the programs that the student intends to major. Yeah, most of their friends may be attending a particular school, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the school has an entertainment major that the student always dreamed of. Being apart of a new school is practically adopting a new family. Selecting the school enables a student to make life long friends, business partners, or even lovers; it's essential to select the right school. Make sure the student gets involved and take the highest leadership role they can. I can guarantee that they will stand out in their job interviews when they let their future employer know about their trip to a foreign country or the community service project they led. College is the perfect place to stumble upon infinite opportunities.

  12. What's the most frustrating thing about your school?

Registering for classes is the most frustrating part of UCF. Most scholarships require at least 12 hours per semester and every semester I struggle trying to achieve that number while picking classes that pertain to my major. Registration is specific to your expected graduation date as well as you GPA, yet even with a relatively high GPA it seems futile to register for the classes you need. The pattern of registration has become a stressful month of trying to build a schedule with the scraps left over from seniors and constantly checking online for openings until a miracle comes along.

  14. What is your overall opinion of this school?

I honestly love UCF, even though ive only been attending the university for about 8 months. Ive become more social than i used to be in high school, during high school i was a very introverted kind of person. Once i began attending UCF i began making friends in my classes, my dorm, and around campus. Therefore, one of the reasons i love this university is that it allowed me to get over my social anxietys and just go out and do things. The classes at UCF are more rigorous then any of the classes i took at a community college or in highschool, but putting in effort and studying you can acheive a high gpa and succeed in the university. The dorms are nice there are different types of dorms all around campus; ones where you have your own room and bath, your own room and shared bath, or shared room and shared bath. My first semester here i shared a room and bath and ended up making a friend for life.

  15. What are the academics like at your school?

The difficulty in academics depends on your major. Given the math department at UCF is not efficient (thank god im not a math major), one because all math classes below calculus meet for 50 minutes ONCE a week and then you have to go to the math mall (a room where you have to commit 3 hours a week doing math work). I believe the math mall is very inefficient because why not just use those three hours in a classroom setting taught by a professor. Since i am a Biomedical Science major i am always studying and preparing myself to class but i still have time to enjoy myself as long as you set up times to study, do your work, and have fun you will enjoy your experience in college. I still workout, go out on the weekends, and hangout with friends. You just have to work hard and put in the effort to pass your classes.

  17. What are the most popular student activities/groups?

I am a part of the Christian Club at the school, but I also have joined into a group that helps to put together events for my peers. So if there is a game or a health fair I am one of the ones to assist in making sure supplies and materials are available among many other things. I'm not too sure about the dating scene, I try to stay away from that. We just had a Freshman pool party at the school. It was a great turn out. Lots of fun in the sun. When I am off campus I go to the Gym, the Library and work part-time at the local Mall.

  19. Is the stereotype of students at your school accurate?

They can be. There is a very large Greek population on campus and the sorority and fraternity members that I've met accurately fit the stereotype - airheaded, annoying, and obsessed with partying. But if you look in the right places, you can find a lot of students concerned with change. I am part of the progressive community on campus so I personally know these students. And of course, most students are focused on their education and doing well.
