My classmates vary from diverse and accepting to ignorant and unknowledgeable; it's all who you meet.

Laura
Because i'm a Liberal Arts major, my classmates are all extremely different in their viewpoints, skin color and backgrounds. People tend to get shy in smaller classes so most of the time it's sort of awkward unless you make it your intention to talk to someone sitting next to you or around you. A lot of people tend to cling to their friends that they already know, so it can be hard to meet people through classes unless the teacher does some sort of classroom assignment where you have to sit face-to-face with someone.
Jonathan
The are very diverse in their way of thinking, and are willing offer their views of event, situations, and/or class subjects.
Anthony
My class mates are focused in the class room and in their studies but when it comes time to have fun we are second to none.
Kate
A fun group of people who love what they do.
Ellen
My classmates are very bright and come from all backgrounds which creates a wonderful mix of students.
AJ
pretty good groups on campus. alot of cultural organizations as well as social, religious, and professional groups. The body of students is pretty diverse. Alot of ct white kids but also large population of diverse ethnic groups and also hot girls (especially when it gets warm out).
Jenn

I have had experiences with those outside of my own race, mostly through classes, and some I am still friends with today. This past year, I also had roommates who were lesbians, and it was one of my favorite living situations since I have been here. They were a great relief and very accepting of me, listening to the reasons which led me to randomly live in the same apartment as them (previous roommates proved to be the worst people to live with). I felt very comfortable living with them. I've become great friends with them and I wish I could live with them next year. I find that UConn is the best place to interact with students different from yourself. It has led me to learn a lot about myself as well other people around me.
Brett
Antisocial people would feel out of place.
There's lots of diversity.
Some cliques form quickly, but most people try to mix it up.
Most students are from Connecticut.
Most aren't politically aware. (I'm not, sadly.) The great majority are left.
Dave
i dont think that anyone would feel out of place at UCONN because it is very diverse, most kids are from connecticut
Annie
I think most people would fit in well on campus. It is very open and the people very accepting. Kids usually wear sweats to class and it is a very relaxed environment.
kat
the uconn student body is pretty chill. dont be ashamed to wear sweatpants and flip-flops to your classes. most uconn students are from ct for obvious reasons, but you can definitely find students from all over the us, and the world for that matter.
