Francisco
Its campus is somewhat like a tiny city in a very rural setting. Unlike a city, it has almost no stores, unfortunately.

Unique? Well, everything that is already unique about Connecticut. Otherwise we're jsut the standard research intensive university.
Erica
The school spirit and unity of everyone that goes there. No matter how different you are from your neighbor, you will always have one huge thing in common, and that is that you both have pride in your school and connect with each other in a way that you wouldnt be able to connect with anyone else.

There is much more variety in both the curriculum and the extracurriculers than anywhere else I considered, catering to nearly any taste possible. If there isnt what you want, you can design your own major or create your own club or organization. There are many hundreds of majors to choose from with many minors to acompany your choice, and a multitide of activities and services to occupy any remaining free time as one chooses. It is an exciting place to be due to the variety of options and people.

We have a huge school of agriculture, which means the campus is surrounded by a big farm -- but we do have our own homemade ice cream. The campus also largely sustains itself, which is cool.
Emily
It had everything I was looking for. I wanted a large school with a big, diverse population. It's reputation for education, particularly in my field, was great for a public school. It has a huge athletics program and I LOVE sports. You don't have to go out and party to find something to do or have a good time. There is always something going on and anyone can feel at home.

There is nothing really unique about my school. It?s a big state school with lots of opportunities and a solid academic base. I chose to come to Uconn to run track knowing that I would be able to find a major that fit me. My priorities quickly changed and now I?m doing engineering and have a much more balanced life. Uconn is a good school with lots of academic and social opportunities.

IT IS AWESOME. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO.

I turned down a combined 7 year BS/DMD program affiliated with NYU's Dental School to attend the University of Connecticut....there was just something here that drew me in and made me feel like a belong. The school spirit is palpable, that social opportunities are endless, the extra-curricular opportunites are readily accessible, and I had a chance to start my own Greek-letter academic fraternity; all for an in-state tuition rate.

At first the large size is intimidating, but it is really part of the school atmosphere and sets it apart from other schools. The size of UConn provides for countless opportunities for new activities and to meet new people. The space allows for the individual to discover and experience something that is all their own. It lets them take away something unique and different from the school, which puts the school in a league of it's own.

some of the best years of my life so far. Uconn is a place you'll never forget and alot of crazy spring weekend party night, intramural sports games, and meeting alot of cool people first hand can show you what I mean alot more than this write up will. I highly recommend Uconn.
Jessica
Every year is going to be different at UConn, but there will always be things to look forward to, people to meet, and things to learn.
Make sure you find an adviser that you like, who can help you,, and pays attention. Often students find themselves in a jam when their schedules aren't working out right because an adviser hasn't been paying attention.
Everyone will tell you South Dining Hall is the best. But its not worth waiting in line. Go to Northwest.
UConn can be a very fun place to go to school, but don't be stupid with your decisions. A lot of things can get you in big trouble.
Dave
UCONN is really a great school and Im definitely enjoying my time there
Jessica
I just want this campus to offer more culturally diverse events & activities for all students. I would not change my academics.
kat
if you are looking for a good education, uconn is great.
if you are looking for an amazing night life, uconn is not so good.
uconn is going to be what you make of it, there is definitely plenty to do, but it wont always seem as obvious as you may like.
oh yeah, and please please please do not forget to take advantage of study abroad. if there is one thing you can do for yourself while at uconn, or any college for that matter, it would be GO STUDY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY!
Amy
Stay true to yourself! UConn is a big school and it's easy to get sucked up in the wrong crowd. Make smart decisions and remember where you came from because those people that helped me to get into college, are helping me get through college.
Bethany
I love UConn. The campus is gorgeous and although there may not be a whole lot going on off campus (not walkable distance), there are enough activities to get anyone through the day.
Hunter
It is very hard to get into classes because there are so many students trying to complete GenEds, but not enough staff to teach them. Therefore you end up taking classes that have nothing to do with your major or what you would like to explore as a major.
Michele
I'm not going to lie. I HATED UConn my freshman year. I was barely involved, I was bored, I was far from home. But then I lost the nagging boyfriend and the bitchy roommate, and now I feel so at home at UConn, and I'm loving every minute (well, except for those lovely late night paper writing sessions till 4 am...). My advice to incoming freshmen:
-You might be "in love" with your significant other, but if they live an hour or more away, break it off if they're not coming with you. Unless you REALLY think you can pull off the long distance thing, DON'T. Just don't even attempt it if there's any doubt in your mind.
-ROOMMATES. If you have doubts about your roommate compatibility factor after week 2, my advice is to SWITCH. Haste, post haste. Ask your CA about how to do it. 9 times out of 10, you'll be so much better off. I've found this to be true for girls more than guys.

The food is only good at towers.
