the university is great, but the academic advisor's are pretty horrible. do your research. i know so many people who have been screwed out of graduating on time due to depending on an adviser too much. Also if you don't know your major when you step foot into the door, don't expect to graduate in 4 years, this is very unlikely, I know.

UConn is great. There's something for everyone and you will find people with whom you'll get along great, you just have to look around a little.

All in all, I love Uconn. Even though sometimes I feel awkward because there isnt that much diversity.

The food is actually pretty good ... depending on where you go. South and Towers are, more often than not, pleasant surprises. Buckley, on the other hand, is awful, but it makes an effort; it's just serves too few people to have enough choices. East is hit or miss becasue they use all local foods (including dairy bar ice cream, yum!) so sometimes it's amazing and sometimes not so much. North is okay, Northwest is better than North, but not as good as Towers. I haven't eaten at Putnam (aka: Hilltop) or McMahon yet, but I hear that they're about as good as North, which is quite tolerable.

If you play an instrument, join marching band (UCMB, Pride of Connecticut, the really loud people behind Charter Oak). If you don't play an instrument, learn one. Then join marching band.

campus population is growing too quickly so it's very hard to get the classes and dorms we would like.
need more dorms/classes or should cut back on enrollment capacities

Although it may sound not so great by what I've said at times, it really is a great university and i have had a blast here. The housing is ok, the food is ok, and the classes are ok...but i mean what can we expect...we're in college....just know who you are and make the best of it and you'll love it here!!!!! GO HUSKIES!

UConn is awesome! I have no regrets coming here & I would stay here forever if I could.

Uconn is the worst place to be in the winter. When the wind blows it feels like someone is slapping you in the face. Some times I want to scream, "What did I do to you?!!!" It snows so much! and going sledding on horsbarn hill is the best, but walking to class-and you know you have to cuz all the buses are full-is torture. I honestly pray that classes get cancelled just so I don't have to deal with the cold. And then on top of that, you get crazy people going outside in sweatshirts, short skirts with the tights and flip flops! That was the most amazing thing I ever saw. I was mystified, because my mother always told me: "Just because it's sunny outside doesn't mean that it's warm." I guess they never got the message.

Uconn is a great place to be if you are serious about studying and getting a good education from very good professors.
The professor here are the best

The on campus apartments were built pretty recently and are the best housing on campus.

Overall its a great college, to go to class, meet one or two people you can truely call your friends, and really become independent and ready for the future.
But.... its really impersonal. Its such a huge campus its hard for one to get to know their professors, or even keep in touch with friends. Sometimes I'm not even sure the professors care if you pass. They just want to teach to make a living, and don't care if you absorb anything. Its also a very hypocritical college. Its seems as though the college wants to say they care about the enviroment, when there is so much waste in the dining halls. I have seen so much fruit and food thrown away when barely eaten it makes me sick. There will always be waste, but allowing a student to grab whatever they want and throw it away, while trying to show the campus as a school looking out for the enviroment, just doesn't makes sense to me.
