In the past month, the University of Denver was ranked as the number on school for studying abroad in the country by the Open Doors report given by the Institute of International Education. The report stated that 71{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} of undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Denver study abroad in their time at the institution. Over half of the junior class was absent this fall quarter as they travelled to dozens of countries across the world to continue their learning experience and gain real-world experiences.

The University of Denver is mainly know for its high tutition. This could be a bit of an issues when that fact clouds all of the other great thing the university offers. From its healthy food to small intructor to student ratio for a personalized learning, the high tutition overshadows all of the great point the school gives. It's hard to focus on the good when there's a huge debt on your shoulders.

When I tell people I attend the Universtiy of Denver I often times get a response along the lines of, "Oh, doesn't that have a weird schedule?" What they are referring to is the Quarter System. While many have heard of it, very few have attended a school on this schedule so very few have the privelage of understanding. We have the privelage of taking more classes in a school year and getting to change out schedule one more time than schools working on semesters.

As University of Denver is a private school, it achieves academically and strives to give all students who attend an education that will help them achieve after graduation. This school has a strong athletic spirit, where students attend all sport games and cheer with all their heart. There is also a great awareness to help the environment as every building and floor has fill in water bottle stations and recycling bins.

It is best known for their great academics and toughness. It has tough courses but by coming out of there with good grades, an employeer notices that. The College of Idaho is well respected.

DU is best known for hockey. Hockey at DU is like football in your average All-American high school--just about everyone at the University is a hockey fanatic, and the hockey culture that exists at DU is indescribable--this also points to the amazing student life that exists at DU. Everyone on campus loves getting involved in all sorts of activities that occur, including weekly campus-wide movie nights, the famous hockey season ticket camp out, and more. Everyone at DU has a place, and the student body is really integrate, which makes for a great overall experience.

My favorite campus tradition is the rivalry between Colorado College and DU. Interestingly enough, most students at DU also apply to CC, but because they are the closest div. I hockey team, we hate them. Brutally. It doesn't matter who DU is playing, at some point during every hockey game you will hear a "CC SUCKS!" chant, which can greatly confuse those who are playing for the other team and have never heard of "CC." But of course, this rivalry leads to another campus tradition, a DU-CC game at DU. Because of CC's proximity, many CC students show up to the game (and give us their money), and the DU student section sells out within a couple hours when tickets go on sale. The last DU-CC game I went to wore my voice out so badly that I sounded like the love child of Clint Eastwood and Batman for the next 6 hours, and could barely even whisper the next day. Totally worth it.

The Hockey Campout. Every fall, there is a campout (mostly for freshmen) to get season hockey tickets. People line up in tents outside of the box office, hang out, party, eat free food grilled by DU Grilling Society. In the morning, you buy your season hockey tickets while the players bring you donuts. It was the coldest night of my life, but so much fun!

My school is known for its academics, it's a pretty top knotch school.
