Greek Life at DU is great. There is always an event being sponsored by one of the Greek houses. I've gone through rush week. As a new student to DU it was a great way for me to meet new people. Athletics here at DU are the heart and soul of Pioneer Pride. We have a world class hockey program that brings everyone together. DU has guest speakers come to our campus all the time. In the last year we have had all the presidential nominees. Bill Clinton, Obama, Lance Armstrong are just a few of who has stopped in to make a difference in the students and community at the University of Denver in the last year. Dating at DU is interesting... we have some of the best looking students in Colorado. the benefit of being a smaller campus you get to know the people around you better... increasing your chances of landing that perfect ms/mr right(now). Just like any school there is a party scene for those who qualify : ) Being close to downtown there are always groups of people heading to the big night clubs. You can always find someone you know at one of the local campus lounges and community bars that are close to campus. The fraternities and sororities are a great way for people from out of town to meet new people and make great friends for life. Due to the small population of DU the dorms are like a giant fraternity in their own right. you will not have any problems meeting people in your dorms with like interests and everyone is within three blocks of anything. Its summer time and there are some students that stick around all year. Last weekend a couple of buddies and I went to Jackson Hole Wyoming for a cabin trip. A night without drinking is common @ DU. There is a great entertainment complex 5 min from school that has a Imax movie screen and arcade games. There is a 24 hr Starbucks not too far away and the light rail can get you to any part of the metro area to do just about anything. Off campus I play hockey, bowl, softball, flag football, indoor soccer, mountain bike, dirt bike, ski, snowboard, go to movies, camp, hike. Ave's Nug's Rockie's Mammoth Rapid's Outlaws are the big professional teams that at least one is playing year round!

one thing i really love about du is how important all student groups seem to be on campus. the greek system does not have a huge influence over the campus- all groups seem to be relatively equal. the great thing about the campus is that dowtown denver is like 10 minutes away. there is a lot to do on campus but also TONS to do outside of campus life.

I've gotten very involved in Greek Life this year. I rushed right away my freshman year and have definitely found my place in my sorority. It's definitely a good way to meet a lot of people and find a group that you can be friends with for the rest of your life. As far as social life goes for the entire campus, it is more of a party school than people give it credit for. There are a lot of house parties and fraternity parties, and different organizations host bar parties downtown from time to time. There's also a really big bar scene. Students like to hang out at places around campus like the Border and Stick-e-Star and Stadium.

The friends you meet freshman year, you'll most likely be friends with for the rest of college. The dorm experience freshman year is imperative. Greek life is great, do it. Most of my friends party 3 nights a week, Thursday's are the big nights. But really you can party as much or as little as you'd like.

The bar across from campus allows more underage drinking than a high school field party. Most of the people living in the dorms will manage to get themselves a fake ID very quickly. The school has a pretty decent sport programs, hockey and skiing are the strong points, and the school gives season tickets out to hockey for $60 to students.

Well, everyone's looking to hook up for the most part. Guys are either looking for a one night stand, really needy, or already taken. But there are really nice guys too, just don't look to meet them at a party. As far as parties go, there are quite a few except in winter when everyone's in the mountains. Drugs aren't too bad comparatively but they are available basically wherever -- pot, hard drugs, prescription, etc.

Most people dont have class on fridays so the weeks absolutely fly by. 1/2 your time is party time!

The Alpine Club is popular, and greek life is mildly popular. There are alot of sports players here. I am involved with Gamma Phi Beta sorority, which I absolutely love because the greek life here is much more layed back than most schools, and you don't have to be greek to fit in. Also, if you are greek, you still hang out with everyone else~! Athletics events are not that popular, unless it is hockey. It is easy to find someone to date here, but at the same time, it can get frusterating because comparitively there are a small amount of students here. My best friend is my roommate, and others I have met through Gamma Phi and my classes. 2 AM on Tuesday, I would be doing homework. Every year there is camping out for hockey tickets. People party every weekend. Last weekend I went to the bars around campus, as well as attending greek events - always so fun! I also went on a few runs, did homework, went to lunch downtown and volunteered. Off campus, I get food, shop, explore, hike, see friends at close schools.

Outdoor clubs are big. Skiing/snowboarding are fairly prevalent, as the Rocky Mountains are just an hour or so away. DU is ranked as one of the top 25 most fit campuses in the US. In other words, we enjoy staying active. Most students don't have classes on Fridays, so every weekend is basically a three-day weekend. Consequently, Thursday is the main night for going out/partying. However, if partying isn't your thing, there are always plenty of things to do on campus. Residence hall life in particular is great; my closest friends are those that I met on my floor in the first few weeks of moving onto campus. Every Thursday, our programs board shows a free movie in our largest auditorium, usually one that has yet to be released on DVD. Guest speakers come to campus frequently, including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Martin Luther King III, Lance Armstrong and Madeline Albright (all within the last year). There is always at least one big concert on campus per year, and it's usually free for students or highly discounted. Hockey is our biggest sport, and we tend to go pretty crazy for those games, especially when we're playing our rival, Colorado College. One of the biggest traditions at DU is May Days, a week-long celebration near the end of may that includes music, food, a carnival, and more.

The social life at DU is pretty decent, but it could use some galvanizing. There are not many activities that one could participate over the weekend that don't involve drinking unless you find a particular group of people. A lot of the social life is orientated towards the Greek Life on campus. Besides that, however, if one were to try to look for a party or something very exciting going on during the weekend, it can be hard at times unless you want to go to a fraternity house to party.
