This school is so huge that it has a place for everyone. It is very diverse and has a huge array of student organizations for everyone. Students are very politically aware/active but I have not noticed the student body to be dominantly democratic or republican. Many financial and cultural backgrounds are represented and all interact with each other!
Rachel
My classmates are focused, hard-working people who at the same time are kooky and fun-loving, and almost always easy to get along with.
Jennifer
cheereful nice and smart
Jessica
Since the school is so big, it's easy to find people to relate to.
Jesse
Awesome and diverse. You can find what you're looking for. The majority of the student body is a certain type, but everyone is out there and they find each other.
Amanda
For the most part, its def pretty diverse. But based on where you live on campus, it can get pretty tough. There are def stereotypes for who lives where, for on campus at least.
Carla
My classmates were similar to me in age, field, and circumstance.
Yana
There is a great variety of students here, everyone here can find their click.

UMASS Amherst is a diverse community and thus, my classmates all come from different cultures and each are unique and special in their own way. They each have something more to offer and we work well to help one another.
Samantha
Wild, insane, completely unaware of the seriousness of college, and constantly drunk or stoned.
Sofia
Sadly, I don't know my classmates very well because I've been isolated for a while and have poor social skilles, but in general they seem friendly and helpful.

My classmates in my engineering class I have known for 4 months now. Of course every student is different but the ones that really care about this subject like I do, are some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Everyone is always willing to help everyone out because it's information we're all learning for the first time that we want to use in our futures.
Nicole
The students are willing to make new friends and are friendly in each class.
Mariel
I consider my classmates to be a combination of being a friend, an inspiration, a partner, and a comptetition.
Christin
Your classmates are often feeling the same way you are. They are new to the school just like you are, and they are experiencing the same challenges as you are. Most of the time they are friendly, and, because they are at college, committed to quality work. Umass at amherst is a freshmen friendly university, and its students are too. You should be able to get along with your classmates, and they should be willing to help you.
Jason
The classmates that I have are very friendly and outgoing and have turned into friends very easily. It may, at first, be hard in some big classes, but keep your head up high and you'll make friends in no time. Just be outgoing and don't be afraid to speak up.
Courtney
UMass Amherst is one of the most diverse school I have ever been to. There is no way to descibe the students in 100 words since UMass caters to every gender, race, sexual orientation, family background there is.
Candace
My classmates are very diverse, but friendly at the same time.
