Umass is considered one of the biggest party schools in the country. They say it's a huge school and not many people go for academics.

A steryotype in particular is the one about UMass students being dumb and just floating through school like it was middle school.

UMass Amherst has the reputation of being the party school. Also, the people who live in certain residential areas seem to be placed there based upon stereotype. For instance the southwest residential area is rumored to be dominated by jocks, whereas central is your hippy pot-head type kid; all the living areas have certain labels.

We've been in and out of the Princeton Review's top 20 drinking schools for the past few years. One TV network also said we were the most violent campus in the nation.

UMass is either not known at all (usually outside of New England), or known as a big party school. The students are stereotyped as fluzie girls and frat brothers. Most people I've met immediately were wondering how crazy we go on weekends... which gets a bit tiresome after a while.
