A socially ignorant person should not attend this school. There is much diversity within social groups. Social ingroup lines are not defenitive and are not divided by any factors such as style, sexuality, race or other boundraries.

I think Umass Amherst is a wonderful school that nobody should not attend this school.

The type of person that should not attend University of Massachusetts Amherst is someone who is not willing to work hard to achieve their degree. I think this is the same for almost every College or University. When attending college you need to be driven and you need to be focused on the work that you are doing in your four or more years of being there.

UMass is very diverse in both its population and academic offerings. Students that prefer a smaller campus might prefer to attend a college elsewhere, although I have met students who thought they would feel lost and overwhelmed at the school only to find that with all it has to offer they were very happy with their choice.
Keshia
Someone who doesn't like the cold or from somewhere that is very diverse .
Sarah
The campus at UMass is always busy and bustling with students. There are so many options of activities that students can do, and I will admit it is a bit overwhelming. With over 22,000 undergraduate students it is easy to become just another face in the crowd, which is why I feel it is important to not become one. Getting involved is key. Students that attend the UMass should be active, social, and motivated. I think this school has something to offer for any type of personality, as long as they are willing to be invloved.

University of Massachusetts-Amherst is not for a person who wants a small campus. There are over 20 thousand students at this campus, so classroom size is also large. If a person desires city life, Amherst is not for them . Although the campus is large, the area favors a country life, surrounded by cow and horse farms.
Jessica
The person who should not attend this school is a person who thinks they will not need hard work and dedication to complete a four year degree.
Danielle
Someone who requires alot of one-on-one leaning may not excell at this school. Lecture halls can range from 50-300 students, so individual time with teachers must be seeked out.
Samantha
Someone who isn't constantly partying.
Rebecca
Someone who can't focus in big lectures with hundreds of people.
Jenna
A person who prefers a small school should not attend UMass Amherst because there are over 25,000 undergraduate students alone.
Christin
Umass Amherst is a very big school, with a student body of about 20,000. If you are looking for the smaller, more intimate college experience, this is not for you. But other than that the school offers a variety of fields, and many, Incuding myself, and have found it to my liking.
Hilary
A person who isn't open minded. This is a very liberal school, with a diverse population with varied interests. Also, a person who does not want to attend a big school. It's not too big, but it is a little intimidating at first.
Faith
Invincible, uncaring students, whose whole purpose is to party, need not apply. If they do not want to further their education or make a better life for the world, then it would be parents or scholarship monies wasted.
Courtney
This school is not for people looking for a really close knit university. Although within the majors their is a more united bond between students, this school can be quite a culture shock for someone that needs a small town experience.
Emma
I think the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, could offer a beneficial setting to almost any student, scientific research- or humanities- oriented. If, however, a student is looking for a small liberal arts setting with one-on-one faculty-student work ration and small, intimate seminars, UMass may not be the "best" locate, as it is a large State (Research) Institution. However, the Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration (BDIC) program offers any self-directed student the opportunity to mold their own program of study and take classes both on campus and at five other smaller institutions in the area.
Galen
This school is very diverse. There are oppurtunities for all types of people. However someone who is anti social or doesnt like to interact with people on a day to day basis are probably not the type of person who should attend the school.
Olga
There is a place for nearly all individuals at the University. Whether you are extremely social and out-going, or timid and laid-back, the amount of extra-curriculars range from athletics to computer science clubs. I would not reccommend someone who is closed-minded and not willing to explore new opportunties thay may arise.
Meagan
People who are overwhelmed by large schools and large groups of people should avoid UMass. UMass is the biggest school I applied to, and due to the number of students it caters to, the university can be intimidating. You will not know everyone on campus, you will not know all of the professors (though you will know all of the ones in your field), and to most people, the anonymity is scary.
