We are known for many things, one of which is our world wide acknowledged Optometry school, and our national rankning Nursing and Education departments. Not only are we known for our academia, but also the students that participate in them. We are one of the most highly diversified shools in the country, I believe that this has helped our students have a tighter grasp on social issues around the world. Also, within our classes we have the privilage to hear arguments from all various differing backgrounds, which is an educational gift that many students are denied.

Our school is best known for being the most affordable school in the St. Louis area because most of the rest of the schools are private schools whereas UMSL is a public university. We're also known for being a mainly commutor school with maybe a 7{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c}-9{4a082faed443b016e84c6ea63012b481c58f64867aa2dc62fff66e22ad7dff6c} residential population on campus. It might have increased in recent years due to a new residence hall being built, but it's still mainly a small university. Our Honors College is also pretty well known, and attracts people as far as Oregon.
