The University really took me by the size and the quality. UMSL really takes care of its campus and that makes the environment of student culture thrive.

Ever since I was a child, I adored her grey UMSL hoodie. I wore it in high school. I understand what people thought of state colleges, but I did not care. I have found so much encouragement and support within UMSL's halls. I've had multiple professors take an interest in my college career. Within my major and my minors, I've found many non-traditional students like myself. This reflection of myself brings me so much community at UMSL.

As currently only being at UMSL for the current semester and in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak, I really liked the campus although parking in general is awful. I've hit someone that parked wrong and I've also been hit in a hit-and- run while at class. So my advice is don't bother trying to get a new car for college unless you're is just breaking down every chance it gets.

The overall vibe of the school is great.

I think UMSL brings new life of a college student to the full effect. It gives you the athletic, educational, and social aspect of every opportunity you could want in a university! On top of the teachers, students, and staff there are endless things to do within the STL area.

I had transferred to UMSL after complete my Associate's degree at a local community college.
I immediately felt comfortable on campus. The culture, facilities, and staff are all great. Healthy and constructive discussions were ongoing in my lectures. The instructors placed a great amount of effort in spurring growth in student, in addition to the lecture material. I would recommend UMSL to any student seeking a more moderate university experience. The campus doesn't highlight on Greek life and sports, although they are available.

I truly believe that I am getting my money's worth of education at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. Most of my professors are very willing to answer questions and work one-on-one, and they are extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter in their classes.

I love everything about this school, and wouldn't trade my decision to attend here for the world. It is the quintessential college, with variety in majors, clubs, sports, charities, organizations, transportation, fantastic job opportunities, great campus security, amazing mentors and leaders, and best of all everyone who works here, is designed to help the student become a better person; intellectually, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

UMSL is an affordable option with a wide variety of majors. The facilities are also clean. Additionally, the professors and counselors are there to help us in any way they can to further our education. All the students are friendly and make sure we all understand the curriculum that is being taught.

Loved my nursing school staff and felt with them from freshman year on because of a scholarship. They were knowledgeable, helpful, and could always be reached.
During my pre requisite classes I still did not have problems with most teachers and even on the more difficult classes there are always tutors availabile.
The downside was being on south campus and the danger/proximity to the the metro and studying after dark got sketchy.

I transferred to UMSL in 2017, and I have enjoyed every moment afterward. The first college I attended discouraged me from obtaining my degree because I felt like it was too hard. UMSL made sure I was aware of resources I could reach out to throughout the semester. Including tutoring, advising, counseling, and other groups that advocate for student success!

I love being in a sorority. But the campus needs a lot of work with cosmetics. Some of the bathrooms don't even have stalls. This school used to be a country club but you would never know because everything is run down. All of the sororities lost our houses because no one would listen to us when we told them there is mold in our house. By the time they finally listened to us it was too late. All of our houses are considered unlivable.

I really enjoy the University of Missouri- Saint Louis. The classes are great, and they are pretty hard which is good for college type classes. The teachers I have had so far are always going the extra mile to help their students succeed, and that gives me a lot of peace the majority of the time. II would definitely recommend the Honor's College for those who like talking and discussion time in class. It definitely gives you an opportunity to speak out and have others listen to your opinions. I really appreciate UMSL and I hope that you do too!
GOOOO Tritons!

The University of Missouri-Saint Louis is an amazing school that welcomed me with open arms when I decided I wanted to transfer. I honestly thought that transfering to another university that was a little bigger than my previous university would be hard but everyone from my advisor to my professors to my friends made sure that my transition into the UMSL life was smooth.
Jarron
I love my college, I am proud to say I choose this University and it saved me a whole lot of money. The professors are always availbe and there always people to interact with. The students are friendly, the professors are as well, and its ok to not speak up, if you are afraid to speak up nobody pressurs you to do anything you don't want to, being yourself here at this University is what I love most here.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for University of Missouri-St Louis is 70%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to stop worrying. College used to scare me to death. How different would the teachers be? Will I know anyone? How will I know where to go? UMSL answered all the questions quickly. Our teachers are really helpful and deserved to be noticed. They are really caring and really understanding. People are very diverse and friendly. It didn't take long to make friends at all; UMSL students all empathize with eachother. UMSL was an easy transition; not on my part but because they are so helpful and have a "get going" attitude.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about the University of Missouri St. Louis is that all the scholarships provided for the students from the school is very limited...There is little the school offers to it's admitted student with certain GPA's and ACT scores...I feel the school should try to make more of the variety when it comes to the requirements of some of there scholarships...
I think we're more known for the great programs we have. Theres just so many oppurrtunities to get involved in so many things and the residential life progrm is EXCELLENT!
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
I love our Honor's Program. We have smaller classes and everyone seems to know eachother. We all communicate together and help eachother on homework or projects. Our classes consist of discussion mainly which makes the class more interesting. We are literally not just be lectured; we actually get to participate and make our own contributions. Our professors are really informative and really creative when it comes to thier curriculum.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish that I had known how divided the students and faculty were from each other. There are many racial and status divides. People are even discriminated against if they have transferred from a community college (from where many of the University of Missouri students come ) to go to this school. The University of Missouri - St. Louis has so many different types of people from many different backgrounds, but it is amazing to see the seperation between individuals.
Someone who doesn't mind learning on their own. Also someone who either lives at home or doesn't mind spending a large amount of money for student housing.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
The kind of person that should not attend this school is the type of person who is undedicated, unfocused, or unmotivated. At this school instructors expect students to find out what the assingments are and to compleat them without incouragement from them. If a student falls behind it will be up to him or her to catch up and get on track again.
My overall opinion is that my school has great diversity in practically everything that one could think of. We have resident halls, apartments, parking garages, and the metro-link for all types of students. In addition, a typical school week is from Monday to Thursday with 75 minute classes. The only big complaint I have is that not a lot of students come out and support campus events.
I am a Junior Finance major and I think that the faculty are very personable. They care about your success and they want you to succeed. My major is a part of the College of Business Administration, which is one of top rated programs in the nation. My school always incorporates learning and gears students toward getting a job after college.
What is the stereotype of students at your school? Is this stereotype accurate?
We have more commuter students than residential students. They are mostly commuter students because the vast majority of them are over the age of 23. Our average age of an undergraduate student is 26 years old.
I wouldn't call the residential houses as "dorms" since they have activities and learning communities available. Our newest addition, Oak Hall, has suites. Those suites have four individual rooms, one bathroom to share between the four people, and a hallway. The rooms in the suites are very spacious and they include a bed, a dresser, a desk, a closet, a microwave, and a refrigerator. A new addition to the policies this year is that residents who are 21 years of age and over can keep alcoholic beverages in the rooms, out of sight and the door must be closed when being used. They added this rule so that they could retain students who are of age and want to drink.
UMSL is right off of I-70, therefore to really see anything of interest one should go on the Metro Link to go to the various sites of St. Louis. You can get to the Delmar Loop, Downtown, and the Airport. UMSL also includes a Metro Link pass in the tuition, so every student gets one.
Where is the best place to get work done on campus?
I like to get my work done in the University Program Board's office located in the Student Center. Another popular place is the fireside lounge in the student center. Out side of the student centers, there are a bunch of places to finish work. We have computer labs, writing labs, libraries, and study lounges.
The only major sport teams on campus are Basketball and Baseball. We have "Pack the Stands" night at the Gym every January/February with give aways and prizes. Then, in March/April, we have "Bleacher Bash" at the Baseball Field with give-aways and prizes. We also have other sports on campus, but Basketball and Baseball are the only ones with events.
