University of Nebraska-Lincoln Top Questions

What's the most frustrating thing about University of Nebraska-Lincoln?

Ethan

I think the most frustrating thing about my school is not having enough off campus living spaces in walking distance of campus. I came accross this problem went I was disscussing living off campus with some friends for my junior year. The few apartments that are available to rent near campus come with a steep price tag, however the apartment that are a ways away from the college are cheap. It's hard to have the best of both worlds of having a cheap and close apartment near campus.

This University's professors can sometimes play favorites. If you are an above average student, but still not an absolute genius in their class the can hold grudges.

Hana

The funding is clearly tailored around the football team, leaving me with the impression that the university cares more about sports than education.

Nothing at Lincoln really frustrates me. If you plan out your time and classes correctly, you can be successful in your academic career and still enjoy all the social aspects of college life. The new independence and responsibility is the biggest adjustment in college which make things frustrating and stressful at times, but the school itself is wonderful.

Adrian

Classes are boring. There is mostly rote memorization of terms and no room for thinking outside of the agenda in class. Its unethically expensive to attend school and almost for something that does not intruigue you.

Jack

the most frustrating thing about my school would probably be the people who ride their backs to class. even though there are not that many they can be a nuisance.

Hailey

Large classes and an often too-conservative culture.

Mikayla

In a class of 500 students, 498 students know the answers to the professor's questions. Three of them raise their hands to answer. At least half of the students are playing with technology, dozing off, or just plain not paying attention. The remaining students are either afraid to speak, concerned that others will judge them for speaking, or they have lost their voices. This small frustration of mine is a microcosm for a greater frustration of mine-that students at my school are taking classes to get a degree, not to get an education.

Johnathon

It's no big deal, but there is an East campus and a City campus. Buses transport people between the two, but I wish they were connected so that there was more cohesion. However, the building of a new research district called "Innovation Campus" will help to provide a link between the two separated areas.

Current students are underappreciated during football games. The college sport literally brings the entire state together; it is that important to Nebraskans. However, the students are packed into a corner, rendering them ineffective as they cheer on their fellow classmates and friends, but are disciplined for standing up during a football game. The energy of the stadium represents the heartbeat of our campus; for the past ten years, the athletic department seems to have chosen the season ticket holders and boosters over the actual students. Other division one football programs do not seem to treat their students this way.
