What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year at University of New Orleans?

That there is almost no support for students who aren't from New Orleans. There is no place to hang out on campus after dark or on weekends. The area around the campus was badly damaged when the levees failed post-Katrina. UNO's lakefront campus is surrounded by blighted houses and abandoned businesses. Slowly ,economic activity around here is picking up, but it'll be 10 years before it recovers. In short, there is almost nothing to do but drink. Also, UNO is NOT WELL FUNDED by the LSU system. Damaged campus repairing itself very slowly.
