The only stereotype that I have heard about UNC Charlotte is that we all are average since its believed that our school is easy to get into.

UNC Charlotte is a very unique University due to the fact that it is right in the hub of Charlotte, NC. Charlotte is known to many as the melting pot of the South, and the students at UNC Charlotte fit into the stereotype associated with the Queen City in which the University is located. It brings me great pleasure saying UNC Charlotte does not have a 'stereotypical student'. This fairly young University has much to offer, with 25,000 diverse students we are made up of undergraduates, commuters, transfers, foreign and even graduate students. With many organizations on campus it is easy to spot a jock sporting 49er gear or a member of the Greek organization wearing their letters from those driven students you seem to always find in the library. While diverse, we are a community that is growing together to become a nation of 49ers. While their is no one organization on campus that stands out as a face of our University,UNC Charlotte's stereotypical student is someone you have never met before, someone you instantly click with, and even someone who inspires you to be a better person.

It common to hear that UNCC students are commuter students because of the stereotype that UNCC is a suitcase campus (students leave over the weekends and return to school on Monday). This stereotype is false, but somewhat true.
Student life on campus is enriched with multiple activities, on-and-off weekend. For example, the Campus Activities Board (CAB), the main programming unit of student activities, is highly engaged on campus with multiple events per week. There's also Niners On the Weekend (NOW), a programming unit specifically tailored towards programming events on the weekends so that students may stay on campus the entire weekend. Student organizations, Greek life, SGA, and Student Niner Media are just a few of the various groups on campus that are actively involved with students on campus.
Although the suitcase culture is changing, there are still students who do go home over the weekends. Also, more than half of the student body population commute to school (due to limited on-campus housing). Furthermore, UNCC purposefully schedules minimal classes on Friday, which encourages students to leave home on Thursday rather than Friday.
