University of North Texas Top Questions

What do you consider the worst thing about University of North Texas? Why?

Nathan

Little parking, campus security gives out too many tickets when there are no parking spots

Tiel

There is nothing that I have found to be discouraging about the university , the campus, staff or students.

Amy

One of the worst things about my school is the size. There are over 35,000 students and it is difficult to make strong friendships because there is rarely someone in at least two of my classes. The people I see each day are different, which is good because there is diversity, but it is hard to start and maintain a friendship if you rarely see the same people.

Chandra

The worst thing about my school is the condition of some of the dorms. The undergraduate dorms are rundown and overpriced. I live in an all girls dorm and the walls have holes from the previous tenants, the doors are old, and the bathrooms have rust in the showers as well as in the stalls for the toilets.

Sara

There is not a large outdoor focus and drinking is too highly valued. Outside of parties, there's not much to do within the city.

Samantha

Some of the professors have very thick accents so it is extremely hard to stay forused and motivated in the class but that can be an issue at any university.

Cynthia

The worst thing about UNT would have to be the student population. It can be challenging to make connections with professors and faculty members on a personal basis. However, it is possible to overcome this. Sit in front of the classroom, ask questions, participate! Show yourself as interested in the class subject, and you'll stand out.

Corey

The only bad thing about the University is that it is overcrowded, there are too many people and not enough teachers, parking spaces, computers, and places to eat. The parking is ghastly overpriced, and it's easier to walk everywhere. Although this is a small price to pay for the low cost and good services of the school.

Katherine

The core courses are often not made worth while other than recieving necessary credit--I feel like I could better serve my time doing better in my major courses.

itercia

there are some bad teachers

Wren

The worst thing would be that the music building (where they practice outside) is right beside the main library. You can most surely hear people doing scales and rpacticing music at any given time during the day. It can be very distracting, no matter if they are good or terrible.

Courtney

Since I'm fairly new to my school, I haven't run into anything negative. There are great people and wonderful professors. On the other hand, if I had to choose anything, I would say the worst thing about my school is, as mundane as it sounds, its physicalities. From the outside, my school looks a bit unappealing and worn. It has definitely seen better days. I remember saying, "Wow, the community college I went to looked better!" Then again, the campus is older than I am and is rather impressive in all its historical glory.

Allison

The worst thing about my school is a lack of fervor and zeal in the students. There is an apathtic atmosphere that is not typical of a college campus.

Olivia

The pricing of the dorms is slightly ridiculous and high. Start saving up now. The dorms are still nice, though.

Sarah

The worst thing about the University of North Texas is that there is no program available for undergraduate students to help them prepare themselves for graduate school . While there is a program that can help undergraduates apply for competitive scholarships, there is no program to assist undergraduates in the application process, the expectations of graduate school, or the financial needs of graduate school. It is a difficult, frustrating, and daunting process and there is no organization on campus to assist in these decisions.

Shamber

Class avalibility.

Shannon

The parking lots, they sell three parking passes per parking spot which makes it almost impossible to ever find a parking spot. Also I think someof the buildings could be updated and more handicap friendly, I broke my foot and for some of my classes I couldnt get to the class room because they didn't have ramps or an elevator.

Sihyun

The worst thing about my school is parking, because there are just so many students. UNT's student population has continuously grown, while UNT's property available for parking has not.

Julie

I am an online student. My online class experience has been superb. I have attended one on-campus class. During the course of that on-campus class, I had two professors and one teacher assistant for one class. That was very frustrating. From that experience, I think that the university should focus more on the learning experiences of its freshman and sophomore courses.

Claire

The University of North Texas, because it is so centrally located in regards to large towns such as Dallas, Fort Worth , and other cities, it is heavy commuter school. Yes, there are many organizations, activities, and people to talk to and do things with, the weekends tend to be very boring and dull. To cope with this aspect of campus life at UNT, it would be wise to find some close friends that you can occupy your time with on the weekends!
