Brenda

I would seriously tell myself not to take the time off between high school and college.

Lisa

I am 45 years of age and am just now attending college because I am unable to progress in my career field without a degree. If I could go back in time I would have gone to college right after I graduated from high school. I had no idea that every well paying position would require a degree when I graduated from high school in 1982. I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to attend college. I have wasted much of my life in jobs that do not pay well enough and have no benefits. I want to be able to support myself and my family and a degree will help me reach that goal.

Tina

Go to school. Complete the courses and graduate. Upon graduation immediately return to school and receive your Master's Degree. Regardless to what others say, know that you are a designers original and you and do anything but fail.

We all have dreams of grandeur of what we might accomplish when we make out of school. Doctors, pilots, vetenarians, and astronauts tend to be on the top of the list. All of these are excellent fields of study and have the potential to bear good fruit. I was most fortunate to have a handfull of teachers in high school who encouraged my appitite for history and as a result I have been able to incorporate the lessons of history into my life. Given the oppertunity to visit myself in those days I would reassure myself that I was on the right path for real education and self-discovery. I would remind myself and anyone else who would listen that if you are true to yourself and who you are you will find peace and happiness no matter what you do or what you study. Education is something that no one can take away from you.

Ryan

Go to college directly out of high school, it is much easier that way instead of trying to balance a family, full time work and full time school. Also study harder on computer stuff as that is the field you want to go in to.

Cheryl

Don't blow off college because you think it is too much for you to handle or it isn't worth the time and hassle. The time it takes is NOTHING compared to the time you will enjoy the fruit of your labors. I know you are anxious to get out there and start working, but I promise you will not regret an education. I also know that it seems like such a mountain to climb and you aren't sure you will succeed. All it takes is just putting one foot in front of the other, day after day. The days will pass and the classes will pass with them...much quicker than you think.....and all of a sudden you will be there! Education is available to all of us and anyone can do this! YOU CAN DO THIS! You have no idea how great you are going to feel about yourself! You have no idea what it will be like to stand on that platform, accept that little piece of paper and know that YOU DID IT! Don't chase that goal around by looking for substitutes.....go for the real thing! Just DO IT!

If I were to go back into High School, I would tell my self "JUST GET IT DONE!!!". I hate the fact that I have taken so long to get my schooling together. The work load is sometimes tough to keep up with, but just set time aside and do it. I would also reccomend myself to study more, and to take the extra time to really understand what I am studying. It is all worth it when you are done, and you look back. Having a job, and going to school is very stressful. If I would have went right after High School I would have been able to focus on just that one thing, instead of many. So go full force into College with your best foot forward, study hard, and you will be very happy you did! Trust me, i'm you in ten years!

Forget the social drama, work hard and focus, it's the only way to reach you're dreams. Your real friends will stick by you and support you no matter what, your family is always there to help whether you think they are or not.

Miranda, you know that going to school and getting a college education is one of the most vital parts in order to making a successful career in society, and if you want to be successful, be able to provide for your family, not have to worry about the bills, have stability, have a nice home, provide more your family moreso than your parents were ever able to do for you and your sister then I suggest you go to college, and look in to what you would like to do when you are an adult. Now that you are an adult you need to really consider who what career you would like to get in to, think aobut one that is going to pay off, what is their a demand for where you live, or if you want to live in or around the town you grew up in because some careers may cause you a lot of drive time if the opportunity is not available here in Brevard now. College can be fun, an exciting experience, and you can have things you work hard for and deserve by having an education that will get you the job you want.

The older you get, the more responsibility you typically acquire. With more responsibility, it becomes harder to go to school and obtain a degree. I waited to finish school until after I was married, had a child, and had to work full-time. It was very hard, many nights of very little sleep and it hurt the relationship between my husband and I. Now I am going back for a master's degree with the same responsibilities, but at least this time we all have a better awareness of what it will take for me to finish this degree. It is scary, but not as frigtening as not having the needed skills for the future workforce. I really appreciate school and the knowledge I have obtained, I'm not sure I would choose a different route. Even though it has been tough, I not sure I would be as proud of my efforts, plus I would not have my beautiful family as my support system.
