University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Top Questions

UWL was a little far away from a "full" grocery store. Not being on the dining program, and not having a car for a year was a challenge.

As of now, I think that the worst part of my experience at the universty have been with the financial aid office. They are more than willing to help but are not the best at explaining how things will work out. The education and college life are great. I have just had some issues with understanding what will happen with the money side of the college life.

Our school is very good, If I had to change one thing I would update the dorms

The worst thing at school at the moment is the food on campus.

There really aren't many bad things about UW-L if I had to speak in general. The worst thing is probably the amount of drinking that goes on, but then again to many people that is what they come to college looking for. It is also really a very avoidable problem as long as people are careful to make the right kinds of friends that share thier values. The only other complaint could be the cold weather in winter, but hey it is Wisconsin what are we gonna do!?

The worst thing I consider about my school would be the way their announcement system is set up. They never email you when due dates for registration or sign ups are and you never know what is going on around campus.

The worst thing I have found in my school is that at the recreation center, there is only one treadmill. There was a new recreation building built on campus not to long ago, and it holds many elipticles, and new cardio machines, but only holds one treadmill. With me being in a heath care field, I would love to run everyday, but I cannot due to the long line for the treadmill. This seems like a large problem for me, but a very minimal problem for the school, which shows how nice, and in line my school is.

At the current school I attend, St. Norbert College, I find the size of the school to be my biggest concern. I plan on transfering to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse for more opportunities. They have more students and available programs for me to excel in.

The food service was pretty bad when I was there - I found a clump of hair in my breakfast one morning.

There isn't really anything that I dont like about my school. Besides that the drive to UW-La Crosse is a 3 hour drive. Besides the drive to La Crosse, I really like the school.

The worst things about LAX I believe to be are some of the social aspects. Considering that this is a Wisconsin school, many students like to drink and party a lot. For me it is uncomfortable at times, but everyone is very friendly even if you wish not to partake in certain "activities." I do not have much at all to say about negatives directly concerning the school.

The thing I like the least about the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is the lack of school spirit at athletic events. At my high school, school spirit at games was very high, which is what made them so much fun. Here, games are much less exciting because there is nothing going on in the stands. Since there is such a lack of excitement, I don?t attend as many as athletic events as I normally would. If there was some way to get students more involved in the athletic aspect of the campus, it would add more fun.

I attended UW La Crosse until December of this year. Starting in January I will be attending the University of Wisconsin Marathon. I chose to make this transition becuase of the one on one time that I was lacking with my teachers at UW La Crosse. I hope that by attending a smaller school I will be able to get more attention from the teachers at times when I need help.

I would say the worst thing about UWL would be that there are not many places to go out to eat or shop that are within close proximity to campus. There are shops downtown if you are willing to walk several blocks or the take the bus but many times the busses do not run at night on the weekends so if you do not have a car in the winter you are very limited on places to visit off campus.

The worst thing about my school is that there are so many things to get involved in that it might make it difficult to focus on school work when you should. We are a very athletic campus, so when the weather is nice, almost everyone is outside for a game of football or frisbee. Like I said, there are so many ways to get involved on campus it may be difficult to juggle academics and your social life. But if you manage it, it's a good trait to have in the real world when you graduate.

That the diversity of students is not very great.

To try and save money, I live at home and commute. The campus could definitely use more parking.

The thing I consider the worst thing about UW-LaCrosse are the classes. The teachers seem unattached to the material, which does not make you want to be engaged into the material as much as you should be. When I have a teacher that is exciting and seems passionate about the material, it is a complete surprise. UW-L seems as though it is more about grinding the material into you instead of really caring how students learn. I think the teachers need to make the material more applicable to our future careers.

Worst thing about my school would have to be the timing of when it starts and when it stops. We get out later for summer and we start later for school. So when I go home for the summer my fellow graduates have already been home 1 week 2 weeks sometimes up to a month, and they they go to their schools earlier leaving me behind sometimes with nothing to do. But I can't complain because our vacation is usually a little longer.
