What's the most frustrating thing about Washington State University?

Pauline

The hills at WSU were daunting. There is NO parking at the top of any hill so every day and for every class you go to you have to climb hills! The other thing that was frustrating at WSR was the sense of being nothing more than a number by the administration. There was no connection between yourself and your advisor.

At times, it can be so easy for students to forget that there exists another world besides that of Pullman, and so students can deceive themselves into thinking they are the best ones in their field and don't need to try any harder to succeed. People tend to get somewhat too comfortable with where they are and so lose ambition.

By far the most frustrating thing about Washington State University is that when it comes to budget cuts, the school always decides to cut the financial aid funding. This is especially frustrating for me because I rely on financial aid to pay for my tuition. Without this money there is no way that I can afford to attend this school and it doesn't help that the tuition costs are being raised as well. If financial aid doesn't get cut, my life would be much less stressfull.

Again the rise in tuition is extremely frustrating! Especially, when they keep cutting programs and teachers. How will that help with educating students? Another frustrating part is how some members of the staff and falcuty are being paid. The president "will receive an annual salary of $600,000. His contract also includes retention bonuses of $50,000 in the second and third years, $100,000 in the fourth year and $150,000 in the fifth year" (WSU Article Index-Elson S. Floyd Named 10th President of Washington State University). There are raises going on, but cuts continue along with tuition .

The most frustrating thing for me is the emphasis on partying here. Students complain about their grades when all they do is drink and party on the weekends. I feel like if we weren't branded as a party school it wouldn't be as much of a problem. Also, when I tell people I am attending WSU, they automatically assume I party every night. I don't like that.

Not enough Finacial Aid when needed

Probably the frustating thing about the school is that it is built on a hill and depending on where you are staying and where your classes are, it can quite hike to some of the buildings. Another thing is all the required this and that, but that it probably like any other university.

Wendy

The most frustrating thing about my school is that while we are a university prided in being diverse, we still have cases of racial, gender, and sexual orientation hate acts. This bugs me because we live in a day and age where we should all be able to get along, and being at a school that prides itself for that, you would think the students here would be better about letting everyone belong.

Katie

The faculty and administration pretend to care what students want, but really they don't listen at all. Everything is so tied up with 'the state' and 'money above us' that they forget that the students are the only reason the school exists. Also, there is zero student life here! Zero! I go to WSU Vancouver, not Pullman.

The most frustrating thing about going to Washington State is the bad reputation it recieves for being a party school, when in reality only a small group of students fit that steriotype.
