Usually there is a big scene on drinking as the campus is close to the downtown area, where many bars are located at walking distance. While the campus is dry, but alot of drinking house gatherings occurs off campus.

There are many things to get involved with on campus!

One very popular group here on campus is UPAC. This group of students bring in comedians, musicians, and bands to campus, so students can attend them for very little cost. They also organize trips to Twins games, Wild hokey games, and UM football games. I could not be involved in this club because I had class during their meetings, but I do regret not joining.
I am involved in the Winona chapter of Habitat for Humanity. We hold fundraisers to raise money and we also help build homes in our area. It is an awesome thing to be involved in and I'm proud to be involved.
When you are in your room, it's just a habbit to keep your door open. Your neighbors can walk in your room and introduce themselves. This is actually how I met all of my friends my freshman year. I am actually rooming with my neighbors next year because we became so close.
If I'm awake at 2am on Tuesday, I probably don't have class on Wednesday! I am the kid that goes to be by 11pm because I have 8am classes every morning. But, if I am up, I will probably be studying for a bug exam, or really involved in to book and loose track of time.
Parties in Winona go on every weekend. My friends and I aren't the partying type, so on Friday nights we watch movies and and Facebook creep! People do go out every weekend, because there are certain houses that have parties every Friday and Saturday nights.
Me and my friends go to movies at the Winona 7 as often as we can. I love going to movies, and the theater is only a few blocks away from campus!

There are a lot of intramural sports at Winona. We also have a lot of clubs that meet on the week days or different kinds of sororities that you can be in. There are also a lot of groups you can join here at Winona. I am involved with the nursing clubs here on campus. I am also involved with volunteering at the local hospital and also involved with NSCS. In the dorms it is a lot of fun and people are always very friendly.

Intramural sports are very common on campus. Club sports like volleyball, lacrosse, and ultimate Frisbee are popular. I am in club volleyball and I love it! We travel to different town for tournaments and I have made a lot of new friends. At the beginning of the year the dorm doors are open, but now with the exception of a few girls they all are closed. Athletic event are the most popular on campus. People party on most weekends to meet new people, have fun after a stressful week, and relax. Not everyone goes out though. I met my closest friends orientation week, and have stuck with them since! The dating scene is okay, but being a girl it is hard since there is less guys here. The frats here are not too important as they might be at other schools. My sister goes to Drake and they are much more popular there. Last weekend I went to party and 3 dollar movie night through the activities programing committee. On saturdays if you don't want to drink you can stay and hang out with friends, go to sporting events, or go bowling! Off campus you can go hiking, kayaking, rock climbing, swimming, bowling, out to eat, shopping, etc! There's never a dull moment at Winona if your willing to try new things.

We have over 300 clubs, and I know that because I was a tour guide here! There are so many clubs, I don't even know what half of them are, but I know we have something for everyone! We even have a Price is Right club! The clubs that I looked for were sport oriented and biology oriented. If I hadn't been taking 19 credits per semester and if I didn't need at least a 3.7 GPA, I would have loved to get involved with more activities.
I think some popular clubs are intramural sports and IV (intervarsity-religious group).
During my freshman year I lived in the res halls and got along great with my floor mates. Everyone left their doors open and was eager to meet everyone and make new friends. [THIS IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE, INCOMING FRESHMEN!!! EVERYONE IS IN THE SAME BOAT AS YOU AND DOESN'T KNOW ANYONE ELSE!] Come sophomore year, people are settled into their groups of friends and it isn't their main goal to meet people anymore. People are still nice and friendly, but it's not a "Hi, I'm Katie, let's be friends!" scenario anymore.
I met my boyfriend on our intramural volleyball team. I was actually dating someone else at the time that we met and we were more just acquaintances. Thanks to facebook, he saw when I became single over the summer and popped up on my chat asking how I was doing, and we never stopped chatting after that! That's my experience with the dating scene. He's the only Winona student I dated so I don't know much else about the dating scene.
If I'm awake at 2am on a Tuesday morning (AKA every day freshman year) I was up socializing with my roommate/floor mates, or walking to Kwik Trip for a tasty snack. Now that I'm older and cherish my sleep a little more, I'm never awake until 2am!
Last weekend (the weekend before finals) I spent about 19 hours studying biochemistry. It's a tough class! Normally on weekends I hang out with some friends, do some homework/studying, workout, and do something outdoors if it's nice out. On a Saturday night you can go bowling, see a movie, walk around the lakes, or go to the scenic overlook.
How often do people party? Depends on the person! Some people never ever party, some people are out Thursday, Friday, and Saturday every weekend. My grades and wallet come before partying, so that's not exactly my 'scene'.
