I think Winona is great. I am going there to continue my studies in the fall of 2024. They were all so kind to me. There are lots of things you can do to stay involved. They are like one big family. The look of the college is also beautiful with the old aesthetic look.

Winona state is a surprisingly very good college I came thinking I wasn’t gonna know anyone and I worried that it was good to be a bad experience but I was proven wrong.Winona has everything you need as a student. There also a lot of clubs and other extra activities you can participate participate in over I would say that Winona is a very recommendable school

I love the environment and the clubs I've had an amazing first year. Although I have had some ups and downs almost all my teachers were accommodating to me after the car accident I was in. Students are very polite to hold doors open even when running late and the teachers always made extra time available for me.

I originally attended the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities before coming to Winona State University. I left after my first year at UMN because I felt as though it was hard to make friends and I did not feel as though I was a part of something. In that regard, Winona State University has fulfilled my need perfectly. The campus is tight-knit, beautiful, and inclusive. It did not take long for me to make friends at Winona State, even during COVID. However, the one thing that I will say is that many of the professors I have had in my time here are subpar, at least in comparison to the professors that I had in my time at UMN. Perhaps that's an unfair comparison to make, though. I would recommend prospective students come to campus to check it out if they are interested.

I personally love the campus and classes; but I know that there are some majors that have been relegated into the background of the school or are only taught by one of two professors. On-Campus housing is becoming a bit expensive and has become a vicious cycle of increase as students go off to other housing options.

Overall this is a very safe mid-size campus that is very friendly with a lot of emphasis on student interaction. The professors are good and all know what they are talking about. The campus is clean and very "outdoorsy" meaning lots of grass, trees, and landscaping everywhere.

I will be attending this upcoming fall. I love the environmental surroundings and the culture life on campus. All of the people are quite friendly. In addition, I love all the activities that are available. Where I live now there is more restaurants and stores; therefore, Winona has a different atmosphere I will need to get used to.

Winona was definitely my first choice of college. I've always wanted to go to a small campus college and Winona offered that + their nursing program is amazing just a lil bit hard to get into but it's honestly such an amazing school, great size, everything is within walking distance and has a great community family feel to it
Adriana
It's a nice school to go to. Lukewarm, honestly. It's very safe and the party scene isn't extravagant either. The teachers vary and seem alright. They try to create a good atmosphere but it's all kind of average and you more or less have to make your own fun. But it's cool enough.

Winona is a great school to go to. It was one of my top choices for schools and honestly hasn't let me down so far. there are a lot of really great people and programs here that are offered and available. One of the things I really like about it is the campus itself. It has a decent sized campus - you can get from one end to another within less than 10 minutes at a normal walking pace. Plus, it's near the bluffs so nothing is ever too far away and the scenery is really pretty.

Choosing Winona State has proven to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I feel comfortable on campus, supported by the staff and have met amazing people here this year. I recommend going to Winona State University if you are looking for a good school that isn't too big or too small.

Winona State has a very home like feel to it. The nature is beautiful and the campus is big but small all in one. The classes aren’t too far of a walk from each other which makes it easy to fit time in to eat food or chat with friends throughout the day when walking from building to building. The people are very friendly and the professors seem to really care about their students and their education which makes us want to learn more.

Being my very first college visit, I was nervous. I didn't know how I would feel about it, the whole concept made me on edge about taking that next step in my life. My mother and I drove around the town, and I felt a little better. It had a Caribou, a Taco Bell and even a Target. After driving onto the campus, I soon realized how beautiful it was. It seemed like a close-nit town that I would fit right into. I come from small town Delano, so this town seemed like the perfect fit. When my tour started, I was swept off my feet. Inside the buildings was decorated to fit every major perfectly, for example the science building had large structures that looked like DNA and it was just really cool to look at. After my tour, I bought a T-Shirt from the gift shop and when I put it on it just felt right. Winona State definitely made me feel right at home and I am excited that I will be furthering my education here.

I plan on attending Winona State University this upcoming Fall semester. Registration day is the next time that I will be able to visit the campus once again. I've only applied for one college and it was WSU. The entire campus tour kept my attention and the guide made sure to answer any questions. I was super impressed by not just the friendly and involved faculty, but I also noticed quite a lot of diversity. I didn't feel out of place when I was on campus because there was all kinds of different students. I am also happy that Seoul, South Korea is one of the several study abroad locations you can visit in the program that they offer at WSU.
The fall 2020 acceptance rate for Winona State University is 59%. That means, out of _____ applications received in 2020, _____ students were offered admission.
What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
My college experience has shaped me into the person I am today. The opportunities, experiences, and challenges have helped me to discover my passions, and decide what I would like to do with my future. I have been given many hands on experiences within my program that have allowed me to test the waters and discover which specific area of study I would like to pursue.
I believe that college is valuable to attend, because it gives an opportunity to broaden your horizons of knowledge, learn about a variety of people and places, and it will help you succeed in your career. Employers are not only looking for an educated individual to fill their positions, but if you receive an education you are more likely to advance within your business and capture a stable and happy future.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
The type of person who doesn't like to be outdoors, because we are in the middle of beautiful bluffs. Also the type of person who doesn't like a small campus. We only have about 8,000 students and the campus is small enough where it only takes five minutes to cross it.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
The one thing that frustrates me the most about Winona State is that sometimes it seems like the school seems to care more about college appearance than education. Right now they are building new dorms to replace the old ones that still work fine. They are spending money where it should not be spent rather than hiring more professors to help with the growing student population.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
It's really good for the field I'm studying ( Health, Exercise and Rehabilitative Sciences). I take a lot of the same classes as nursing students, so it's easy to make friends who can help you study for a class.
Winona is best known for both it's basketball team and it's nursing and education programs. The majority of girl students that go here come for either the nursing program or to be an education major, because it is such a good program. Also, our basketball team is very good and we have won two NCAA Division II National Championship in three years.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
The scenery mostly. Also, students at Winona seem to be very laid back and friendly towards each other. They dress very casually and are outgoing and all-around nice people. Campus is centrally located and the town surronding is close to Wisconsin so that makes it very convenient to those who wish to go home easily. The town is also very historical with its buildings--the homes and downtown facilities are very beautiful and older.
What are the most popular student activities/groups?
There are a lot of intramural sports at Winona. We also have a lot of clubs that meet on the week days or different kinds of sororities that you can be in. There are also a lot of groups you can join here at Winona. I am involved with the nursing clubs here on campus. I am also involved with volunteering at the local hospital and also involved with NSCS. In the dorms it is a lot of fun and people are always very friendly.
This school is amazing. There are a lot of things that I love about this school. The first thing I like about this school is the size. It isn't very big which is nice so it isn't overwhelming. I also like the town of Winona. It is very pretty with the bluffs all around us, and it is super pretty with the huge lakes right next to campus. I love the "college town" atmosphere. Winona has sport teams that are very good. It isn't a D1 school but the games are still fun to go too!
The best thing about my school I think is the opportunites it allows the students to get involved in, having it be studying abroad, joining a club or interning at the place of your choosing. There are so many ways to put your foot in the door of something new and exciting. Definitely all the places you can go to that will help you with your major is the best thing about my school.
I choose Winona State University because I wanted to go farther away from home. I am 4 hours away from home, which is the perfect distance; I can go home if I want, but I'm not tempted to go home every weekend.
Another reason I choose this University is because it had a very good Athletic Training program. Coming out of high school i thought that i wanted to be an Athletic Trainer, but after taking the Intro to Athletic Training class I found out that it just wasn't for me. I an fortunate that Winona had a variety of Health majors that interested me so I didn't have to transfer to major in the field I wanted.
Class sizes at Winona are just right. English and speech classes and smaller classes have around 20-30 students in them. Lecture halls have only 150 students in them. It is the perfect size. Your professors know your name if you go into their office hours and get to know them. My favorite class is Anatomy and Physiology. It is a very hard class but it is very rewarding to understand all about your own body. The nursing program here is very competitive so you always want to make sure you are trying your hardest and doing your best! Class participation is very common because everyone is here for the same reason. We all pay to go to class so we all want the most out of our education.
The professors at Winona do a great job at getting to know everyone in the class. I have a lot of lecture classes with over 100 students, and the professor still knows everyones names! Knowing yout professors personally is very important, and they make it easy to get to know them. All of my professors from last semester will still say hi to me in the hallways and remember my name! Winona State professors love their students and really want to get to know you.
The sports scene on the Winona State campus is very energetic! Football games are packed, basketball games have full bleachers, and the energy is always intoxicating. People look forward to the weekend because of the basketball games. Me and my firends made it a goal to go to all the home games, and we have! The games are always intense and exciting. The Winona school spirit is incredible!
