I like it just fine, I'm a STEM major and I've met many professors that really seem to care about their students and what they are teaching. Most of my major classes are very challenging and most electives are pretty easy, and I really appreciate that I can focus on what I want to study. I've also tried things I would have never thought of; like rock climbing and swing dance class, both free! I would say it's an alright place to live and get your education, however, many of my peers are very loud and destructive, but I usually feel safe walking around campus.

I love studying at this school. There are a lot of resources for students. There are also so many opportunities for everyone, from school to meeting new people. I think the school works hard to make itself a good environment for everyone and I appreciate that. The professors are very supportive and will give you options for help if they themselves are not able too.

I personally love it here at Minnesota State, the only problem I have with the college is the lack of activities, but that is due to the COVID-19 restrictions and not the college decisions. In the beginning of the 2020 semester the WiFi connection was very questionable, but they made it very easy to fix and took all complaints and fixed the connection the following semester.

It is an average school with a large party scene. With Covid it has been difficult to get to know the professors and other students. I plan on transferring because the music department isn't all that I'd had hoped it would be and I would like to do more field research instead of laboratory research.

Mankato is, to me, a large city which I did not enjoy much being from a small town. It was nice having so many shops and businesses so close by so I would not have to travel far if I needed anything. For being a bigger school, the class sizes were surprisingly fairly small.

It is a good school, but it does have quite a party scene. The graduate programs are stellar, however. There are plenty of things to do around campus, and they always seem to have on campus events going on. The professors generally care about the students, and there is a welcoming atmosphere. I also love the CSU.

I think it's a great environment to be in, from the friendly students on campus to the supportive faculty in classrooms. The campus has so much to offer to its students, I'm not sure that we are ever likely to get bored due to the variety of different activities to participate in and the hangout places scattered across the community. I would genuinely recommend other students to check it out, as it's something great to be apart of.

I grew up in Mankato and honestly attending this college because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with my life. I ended up being very happy I went here. The academics for the major I decided on, Recreation Parks and Leisure Services, are fantastic. All the professors are understanding and kind. My main issue is with some of the living situations. I was fortunate enough to be able to afford the newer dorms which include air conditioning. However, others are not, and I don't think that is fair on multiple levels. I've seen it affect peoples' academics and believe that should not be the case. That is the only issue that comes to mind though, overall Mankato is an awesome place.

Minnesota State University in Mankato offers students a community of resources to discover and take use of. The one thing I wish was better, was the parking situation at the college. I am a commuter student and parking can be such a hassle as I'm trying to get to a class. I have to plan to be an hour early to the parking lot so I can ensure I find a parking spot and still have enough time to get on the bus and get to the college campus for class. I have a feeling many other students would have the same thing to say about the college. There are amazing professors who are always willing to help and listen to life's issues and class related issues. The degrees and opportunities the college offers is significant and it helps the everyday student in so many ways. Overall, I love this college and the environment it carries.

I have done 2 visits, applied and have been accepted and will be a student at MSU in the fall 2019. I am SO excited to start my college career and play softball for Coach Meyer and Coach Wolcott. The team is amazing as well as the coaches. I just felt right at home from the minute I stepped on campus the first time.. I feel like I can accomplish anything at MSU with all the support from the staff and softball program. In addition, I was able to talk to some softball players who are also majoring in criminal justice.

I love Mankato so far! I would highly recommend living on campus as it is a great way to make friends and get to know people. The more involved you try to be on campus, the more fun you will have in my opinion. Most of the professors are highly knowledgable and care about their students success, which is key. Also, class sizes are great. If you need help with an assignment or something you won't have to go see a graduate assistant or someone besides the professor nearly as often as you would have to at a bigger school, so if you like that one-on-one professor interaction Mankato would be an excellent choice (and it's an great choice even if you don't care about that one-on-one stuff).

To be completely honest, I enrolled in the university for the tuition and this has been a story I've heard from a lot of the students who attend the school so there is that. The school itself is alright, I guess. There's nothing outstanding or outrageous about it, it's just another state school in another city, so do with that what you will.
Hannah
My overall opinion of Minnesota State University is okay. I love the campus, but there is security everywhere and there are a lot of mean girls. The dining center has similar food everyday, but thank god for the deserts and the fro-yo machine. There is always a lot of events going on, so you can try something new everyday.

I really like the feel of being on the Mankato campus. I grew up in a small town and have always been around that, which was something I was very nervous about going to college. But Minnesota State University-Mankato feels like a small town that you can walk around and see people you know and not worry about what everyone else is doing or what they think about you. Very happy and active campus, not so much in the winter but in spring and fall. Overall I am very happy that I made the decision to attend Minnesota State Unversity-Mankato.

They always welcome student from across the world.International students are valuable to them. They are always curious to learn the culture of people from different places. What should every freshman at your school know before they start?
I would tell myself to take online classes offered, as a PSEO student because there were no college credit classes offered at my highschool, it could have saved me alot of time and money upon arriving at college. I also would have told myself to look into nursing schools around the state to know what I needed for credits before attending Mankato.
What's the one thing you wish someone had told you about freshman year?
I wish I would have known about the social aspect of the college. A lot of people consider this college a party school and I might have been more leary about coming here than I was when I initially applied.
What do you consider the worst thing about your school? Why?
The worst thing about this school is the lack of commitment it seems like many of the undergradutes come here with. The students don't set the bar high enough for themselves so it makes the university as a whole look as though it is dropping the ball when in fact it is the students themselves doing the damage.
What's the most frustrating thing about your school?
Some of the classes are too big. I prefer small classes. Some professors only grade exams and it's hard to bring your grade up if you don't do well on exams.
MSU- Mankato is best known for its Division 1 Hockey team which has done very well in past years along with the relatively closeness of all academic building to one another. Many of the off campus houses are only a short walk to campus and all classes are near each other too where students don't need to drive from class to class.
What kind of person should not attend this school?
Mankato is a great school but if you are the type of person who doesn't want to try at anything then you are going to flunk out and you should not attend this school. The classes are difficult, so you must be willing to put forth an effort.
Here's your chance: Say anything about your college!
I like where I go to school because the campus is very diverse. The student population is represented by a wide variey of races and ethnicities. I believe the facutly at Minnesota State Univeristy are a lot more helpful than they are at other universities I have visited. The professors want to see their students succeed and will go out of their way to help their students.
What do you brag about most when you tell your friends about your school?
Minnesota State University, Mankato has a great environment both for education and meeting new people. It is a friendly school with many students but a small town atmosphere. The people are great and the campus has many opportunities for entertainment and education.
