Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually. All international students accepted will be considered for an award depending on qualifications.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must enroll as a full-time student.
  3. Must attend or plan to attend the College of Saint Benedict & Saint John's University in Minnesota.
  4. Must be a high school senior or older to apply for this freshman award.
  5. Must have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.
  6. Must attend a college or university in Minnesota.

Description: International students who are entering freshmen at the College of Saint Benedict & Saint John's University (CSB/SJU) are eligible for this award. Students must plan to enroll full time and have a grade point average of 3.25 or higher.

Application requirements for the CSB/SJU International Student Scholarship are:

  • Personal statement
  • Official Transcript
  • Standardized test scores
Additional Information: If English has been the primary language of instruction throughout secondary school, the TOEFL test will be waived. In place of the TOEFL, the applicant must submit two letters of recommendation from his/her former teachers. Scholarship awards are based on prior academic work, grades in secondary school and ACT/SAT test scores. For certain candidates, the TOEFL is also considered.

Award Amount: Up to $28,000 annually, renewable for up to four years. International students are also eligible to receive a maximum of $3,450 through part-time, on-campus employment.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $59,450.

There is not a separate application for this award. Each international student who applies and is accepted to the college/university is considered. Applications for admission are available online from the College of Saint Benedict & Saint John's University (CSB/SJU) or by contacting the CSB/SJU financial aid office. Applications for admission and scholarships should be completed six months to a year in advance of the international student's anticipated enrollment date. There is not a set application deadline date; each student is considered on a rolling admissions basis. In addition to the completed application, the student must submit the following: a personal statement detailing his/her reasons for wanting to attend CSB/SJU, an official academic transcript, standardized test scores (SAT, TOEFL), other matriculation test results (such as 'A' levels, International Baccalaureate Higher Level, etc.), and a Certificate of Finances form. If the student applies using the online system, the application fee will be waived. The TOEFL test, or other recognized tests of English language proficiency, is required of all international applicants. The SAT is recommended but not required. Full consideration will be given to those first-year applicants whose complete applications are submitted by the deadline date. Students applying after Jan. 15 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
