Number of Awards & Eligibility: One award offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a high school senior at the time of application.
  3. Must be a resident of Pennsylvania.
  4. Must graduate from Tussey Mountain High School in Saxton, Pennsylvania, and must have completed all four years at this school.
  5. Must enroll full time at an accredited college or university.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The James A. McCavitt and Annie LePors McCavitt Scholarship is available to high school seniors graduating from the Tussey Mountain School District in Bedford and Huntingdon Counties, Pennsylvania.

  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Personal statement
  • Financial statement
Additional Information: James Donald McCavitt of Palo Alto, California, has established this scholarship in honor of his parents. In setting up this scholarship in honor of James A. McCavitt and Annie LePors McCavitt, their son hopes that they will be remembered throughout the Tussey Mountain School District and the Broad Top area as model parents who would want others to profit by their humble words. Preference will be given to students who meet the criteria of need for financial assistance and demonstrate strong educational motivation.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $1,000.
