Number of Awards & Eligibility: The number of awards offered varies annually and is dependent on funding and qualified applicants. Typically five awards are offered.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for international students.
  2. Must enroll full time.
  3. Must be a high school senior or older planning to enroll as a college freshman.
  4. Must attend or plan to attend Michigan Technological University.

Description: International students who are enrolling as incoming freshmen at Michigan Technological University are eligible for this award. Students must enroll full time.

Application requirements for the Michigan Technological University International Ambassador Scholarship are:

  • Admiss. app.

Additional Information: Awards will be based on academic achievement, evidence of leadership and English language competency.

Award Amount: $1,500 to $6,000 annually, renewable for up to a maximum of eight semesters (four years). In order to be eligible for future awards, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher, full-time enrollment and complete 60 hours of community service in the prior year.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $15,000.

Additional information is available online from the Michigan Technological University (MTU) website. There is not a separate application for this award. Each student will be considered upon admission. In addition to the admissions application, the student must submit official English proficiency test scores and international document information. There is no deadline date to apply for admission; applications are accepted year round. A student may apply for admission up to one year before he/she plans to enroll. For a student planning to enroll in the fall semester, it is recommended that he/she complete an admissions application by April 1. For a student planning to enroll in the spring semester, it is recommended that he/she complete an admissions application by Sept. 1.
