New Venture Development Scholarship

Pinsky Law supports, and provides its services to, entrepreneurs and startup companies. This is the reason we developed and maintain the legal resources for startups section on this website. We know that establishing and operating a new venture is challenging and requires commitment of substantial financial resources. Founders of a new venture must be personally and financially committed to their startup business. Many entrepreneurs mortgage their homes, cash RRSP, and use credit cards to finance the initial operations of the new venture. Access to these sources of capital may be critical to the startup, but these resources come at a high emotional and financial cost. To assist driven, up-and-coming, entrepreneurs who are committed to building their startup businesses, we have set up the New Venture Development Scholarship. To apply for the New Venture Development Scholarship please send us, in confidence, in PDF format, a copy of a business plan for your existing or prospective business, along with the information outlined in the scholarship criteria below. Pinsky Law is a business, taxation, and intellectual property law firm, and therefore we require the applicants to include in their business plan a section outlining taxation and intellectual property strategy for their business.

Row Zero Data Analytics Scholarship

Row Zero's mission is to bring the power of big data analysis to everyone. The most common data analysis tool in the world is the spreadsheet. The problem is as data sets have grown, the capabilities of spreadsheets have stagnated, triggering a wave of analytics products that are complicated to learn, require knowledge of database and programming languages, priced as enterprise solutions rather than ubiquitous tools, and often too rigid to support complex models and processes commonly built in spreadsheets. We built Row Zero to let anyone with spreadsheet skills work with big data and share their analysis with their peers and business partners. To that end, Row Zero also wants to support the next generation of analysts currently working their way through undergraduate programs. The founders of Row Zero were both fortunate enough to receive scholarships that helped lessen the financial burden of higher education. They turned their education and analytical skills into a successful career and appreciate the value those contributions to their education afforded them. The hope is this scholarship helps out students with the same passion for analytical thinking.

Dreams to Degrees Scholarship

Being accepted into college is a huge achievement and is the culmination of a student’s hard work and their desire to elevate their learning. This milestone should be celebrated, but the harsh realities of pursuing education can quickly dampen the mood. Finding ways to pay for college and adjusting to a new routine can be challenging and requires ongoing support. Unfortunately, not all students have access to this support system, as they are the first in their family to go to college. This brings unique challenges for these students that others may not experience. The Dreams to Degrees Scholarship was created to assist students in breaking new ground by being the first in their families to pursue a college education. It recognizes the unique challenges and accomplishments of first-generation students. This scholarship is open to first-generation college students who are accepted or enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. The scholarship award is $1,500. We want to hear from you through a personal statement or essay describing your journey as a first-generation college attendee and highlight the challenges you have overcome and your aspirations for the future. A scholarship committee will review all applications and select recipients based on their eligibility, academic achievements, and personal statements. Please provide two letters of recommendation and transcripts to confirm eligibility. Applications must be complete by May 1, 2024, to be considered.
