Number of Awards & Eligibility: Two awards offered annually.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. This award is for U.S. students.
  2. Must be a resident of New Mexico for one year or more.
  3. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must be Native American with a blood quantum of 25 percent or more.
  5. Must attend a New Mexico high school.
  6. Must plan to enroll full time at an accredited postsecondary, not-for-profit educational institution.
  7. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  8. Must participate in high school varsity-level sports.
  9. Must be a graduating high school senior at time of application.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: This award is available for U.S. graduating high school seniors who have been residents of New Mexico for one year or more and attend a New Mexico high school. Students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher, be Native American with a blood quantum of 25 percent or more, and participate in high school varsity-level sports.

Additional Information: Professional golfer Notah Begay III established this scholarship fund in 1999 to benefit Native American athletes attending college. Awards are made to high school graduates demonstrating strong academic achievement and participation in varsity level sports.

Award Amount: $2,000 annually, non-renewable.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $2,000.
