Number of Awards & Eligibility: Up to five awards offered annually.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: U.S. undergraduate and graduate students who are amateur golfers or plan to pursue a golf-oriented career are eligible for this award.

Application requirements for the Walter J. Travis Memorial Scholarship are:

  • Essay
  • Recommendation letter
  • Application form
  • Official Transcript
  • Verif. of enrollment
Additional Information: The following criteria will be used in the evaluation and judging of all applicants: academic record; involvement in golf-related interests and activities; career goals (not applicable for students who are applying in the category of "amateur golfer"); extracurricular activities, including volunteer work with student/community organizations; participation in sports and community affairs, including jobs held, special interests, and hobbies.

Award Amount: $1,000 annually. This scholarship may be used for any legitimate educational expense. Awards are renewable subject to re-application, including a letter of recommendation from at least one of the student's professors, and evidence of maintaining a 3.0 grade point average or higher. Past winners will be reviewed by the scholarship screening panel using the same criteria applied to all other applicants.  The total dollars awarded for this scholarship is $5,000.
