Number of Awards & Eligibility: Approximately twenty-eight scholars are selected to a receive a scholarship each year.
In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:
  1. Must be a high school senioror rising college sophomore or junior.
  2. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  3. Must have a cumulative year-end GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  4. Must demonstrate leadership and community service.
  5. Must be majoring in agriculture.
  6. Must attend a participating college or university.

In order to qualify, students must meet the following criteria:

Description: The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) offers several scholarships to cover students’ educational expenses. Eligible students must major in agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, or related academic disciplines. Since 2014, USDA has provided opportunities for nearly 140 scholars.

Application requirements for the USDA/1890 National Scholars Program are:

Additional Information: The USDA/1890 National Scholars Program is available to high school seniors entering their freshman year of college, and rising college sophomores and juniors. General requirements include U.S. citizenship, a cumulative year-end GPA of 3.0 or higher, and have been accepted to, or currently attending an 1890s institution to study agriculture, food, natural resource sciences, and related academic disciplines. Candidates must also show leadership and community service
